Years ago I LOVED the book ROOM by Emma Donoghue. It blew me away, I cried lots and multiple times during my reading - and never read anything by Donoghue again. Why? Don't know.
Just some weeks ago I picked up The Pull Of The Stars in the library, a novel where we get to spend just a few days during the spanish flu 1918 with nurse Julia Power in a war battled hospital where she's responsible for the maternity ward [or rather: closet] 1/x

BITCH by Lucy Cooke is a GREAT book [yes in capitals!] that deconstructs ALL the not-very-well hidden misogyny in zoology. Rich in details, heavy on the science without losing the fun - LOVE IT!

One Day on Netflix was the reason I didn't sleep enough last night, and I'm on it again. Strong drug, would totally recommend. Ambika Mod, my new fav actress. Already loved her in This is Going to Hurt and she is shining like a bittery glittery diamond in One Day; 14 episodes where each one screens a 15th of July in 14 consecutive years, starting from 1988, in the lives of Emma and Dexter.
The above mentioned newsletter easily jumps into my #rebcommendations because it covers politics happening to the global majority [aka "global south"] and delivers deep [and sometimes even funny] background. Sham Jeff is a great journalist who does this only on VIP support, so a huge chunk of the content is freely available, and trust me, it's a weekly worthwile read even without supporter status.
OK. Just binged FEEL GOOD season 1 + have to add it to my #rebcommendations. Two seasons about the Canadian Mae Martin as Mae Martin, a comedian that struggles with gender issues, priviledges, and relationsships.

I LOVED Uzo Aduba in OITNB [and all the others, will have to rewatch for the 3rd/4th [?] time, I think] but she, acting as Detective Cordelia Cupp, as well as the story of The Residence and also the directing excel beyond almost everything I've ever seen. <3 LOVE this series, and her, and her role, and all the dialogues. Really, everything of it. [#PaulWilliamDavies is a genius, too.]
And I'm sure I only got one third of all cultural references in it.

I'm able to understand series/movies featuring almost any US American EN dialect. Since #FISK I know that I also do understand Australian city talk. Since yesterday I'm proudly able to say that I ALSO comprehend spoken Tasmanian EN - as well as rural dialects. HOW do I know?

Wow. Disclaimer is a miniseries starring [in the most glorious way this word literally means] Cate Blanchett, Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen, narrated by Indira Varma. The hardest slow burn with a real piece of an ending. Brilliant. Wow.
