#reclaimed

A disused red-brick building is heavily overgrown with green ivy, obscuring much of its left side and roofline against a bright blue sky with wispy clouds and overhead power lines. On the right, a large, tall window is visible, with a slatted vent below it. In the foreground, a low brick wall covered in white and blue graffiti extends from the left. The scene suggests urban decay and nature reclaiming man-made structures.

A moss-covered, dilapidated office chair sits outdoors amidst foliage. The seat is torn, revealing the inner material, and green moss grows across its surface. The back of the chair is also damaged, with exposed yellow foam. The chair has black armrests and a silver-coloured five-wheeled base. It is surrounded by natural ground cover, including moss, small plants, and fallen leaves.

A low-angle shot shows the decaying brickwork of an old building against a bright, cloudy sky. Three window openings reveal the blue sky and white clouds beyond. In the foreground, vibrant green ivy-like plants with broad leaves climb over a dark metal railing. The scene evokes a sense of nature reclaiming abandoned structures.

Rolling out the green carpet for #Doorsday! 🚪

On Sunday, I took my bike and explored some districts in the south of #Magdeburg. In #Westerhüsen, I found some #urbanDecay, but also rural vibes, understated street art, colourful houses, and a lot of nature. This #door caught my eye immediately. I don't know what the #building used to be – maybe a #post office, with the #postBox and yellow details?

The image shows a brick building. The building has a prominent arched doorway with a weathered wooden door. Yellow handrails lead up to the steps of the door, and a yellow mailbox is attached to the side of the building. Greenery grows around the base of the steps. The building is constructed from red bricks with some black brick detailing. The number '59' is visible above the door.

Reclaimed with character: an 8’ toboggan turned shelf, pyramid bookcase, cable spool tables, and a Singer sewing base console. Each piece is handmade by Fox & Thistle Studio.

A collage of handmade furniture from reclaimed materials. On the left, an 8-foot wooden toboggan stands upright and has been transformed into a wall shelf with six tiers. Centered is a large 48-inch cable spool table with a sanded wood top and gas pipe legs. Below that, a smaller 30-inch spool has been turned into a round table with a sturdy wood base. To the right of that is a desk made with a vintage black cast-iron Singer sewing machine base and a composite top. On the far right, a tall pyramid-shaped bookshelf stands against a teal wall, filled with books and flanked by framed artwork. At the bottom, the website “www.foxandthistle.studio” is displayed.

Been making boxes again, this one from a reclaimed oak church pew, a gift for the bride from the groom. The pew was salvaged, in bits, from the church where they are to be wed in early May. Its been nice to make the box, I'd made another box last year for the engagement ring from salvaged driftwood, with an olive ash hinge. Not had an invitation to the wedding, but I feel as if I will be there in spirit 🕊 💍 #bespoke #oak #makers #handmade #reclaimed

I posted this on my art alt, as well, but I was excited to finish this piece and will here include color photos as well.

Technically, I still have to complete the installation by mounting this in a way where the elements will not immediately destroy it, so this isn't actually completed. But, it's completed enough to get a few photos of and share the progress.

This photo is in black & white. In the foreground, rocks and marigold flowers dot the landscape. In the background a mountain juts up out of the valley, creosote and date palms dot the midground. The focus is a crouching woman with short hair holding up a broken window in front of her face. Her features are distorted by the shards of glass creating odd angles with one another. The frame is painted with sigils and the look on the woman's face is intense and determined.A broken window sits on the ground, a creosote bush extends branches through it. Pieces of glass are attached in places that they wouldn't naturally be, including the frame and creating odd angles with broken pieces still embedded in the frame corners. The exterior has been coated with liquid latex and is yellow-whitish, creating a strange effect that almost seems to add age to the already old reclaimed window frame. The frame is painted with various sigils all the way around. Pieces of glass have rusty red on them that appears to be blood.
