When you are creating an image with #generativeAI, you are not creating art. You are #remixing it.

Statistical #algorithms like diffusion models are more like deejays than musicians: Their proficiency is in rearranging ready-made pieces to suit the need of the current occasion. This is a form of art too, but different.

A DJ playing professionally is required to both submit track lists and pay a #copyright fee. Stable Diffusion or Midjourney do not do this.

The "Weird Tales of 1928 Transport '' reimagines Crazy Plane (1928) and Steamboat Willie (1928) from different angles through modern society, technology and perspectives for the 2024 Public Domain Day Remix.

The Coding aspects took around an hour which makes it a good entry for Genuary 27: Code for an Hour.

Taking live coding languages to remix the original content such as #SonicPi (musically), #Hydra @hydra and #LivecodingYoutube (Visually) with filters and effects added.

#Remixing some cues for the piano/electronics piece. dpMeter (https://www.tbproaudio.de/products/dpmeter) makes it so easy to get the volume right between files. Pretty important since there are 78 separate cue files, some with slight volume differences, some with pretty major ones.

I'm downloading Descript as I write this. My first intro to text as the interface to audio editing (such a profound and wonderful idea!) was courtesy of Laurian Gridinoc years ago, I've been eagerly awaiting more general availability.
