Did some quick winter pruning on some of my #bonsai (or, to be more precise, early-stage projects). But made no recordings, just a few quick cuts.

Maybe I'll shoot some new #videos in spring, when #repotting season starts.

Sometimes plants give clear signals when they need more space. 🌱 When roots start growing out of the bottom of the pot, it’s their way of saying: “time to repot me!” Giving them fresh soil and a bigger pot helps them keep growing strong and healthy.

Soms geven planten heel duidelijk aan dat ze meer ruimte nodig hebben. 🌱 Wanneer wortels onderaan de pot beginnen uit te groeien, zeggen ze eigenlijk: “het is tijd om me te verpotten!” Met verse aarde en een ruimere pot kunnen ze weer stevig en gezond verder groeien.

Gurkie has officially turned into a little jungle. 🪴🌿 He’s completely outgrown his current pot, and it's getting harder to pretend otherwise.

We’ve had the new rectangular pot and trellis ready for a week now, but the move hasn’t happened yet.
To be honest, I’m afraid I’ll snap a stem while repotting. So I’ve been doing some homework first. 😅

I’ve been busy repotting my Dionaea (Venus flytrap) seedlings into their new tiny pots… and wow, I’m almost at 100 already! The thing is… I still have so many seedlings left. And then there are the other plants waiting to be repotted too. Starting to think… were 250 pots really enough?

Ik ben volop bezig met het verpotten van mijn Dionaea-zaailingen (Venus vliegenval) naar hun nieuwe kleine potjes… en ik zit al bijna aan 100! Maar ik heb nog zoveel zaailingen over. En dan zijn er ook nog de andere planten die dringend verpot moeten worden… Begin me af te vragen: waren 250 potjes wel genoeg?

Perfect timing—now I can finally start repotting all my seedlings.

I've been meaning to repot my plants for a month now and finally managed to! These weirdos are my favourite.

Last spring I tried to combine all instances of a plant into one big pot, but that didn't work out. This year I'm decentralising!

Coleus in a pink pot. The left branch is long and full of leaves of all sizes and the right one is very short.

My sunflowers had a bit of a rough start—sprouting on a windowsill made them stretch and grow all curved.
But they’ve now been repotted and are soaking up the real sun. Fingers crossed they straighten out and grow tall and strong!

Mijn zonnebloemen hadden een wat moeilijke start—doordat ze op de vensterbank kiemden, zijn ze flink uitgeschoten en helemaal krom gegroeid.
Maar ze zijn nu verpot en genieten van echte zon. Hopelijk rechten ze zich en groeien ze uit tot stevige zonnejongens!

1)Some blab, videos + photos of a couple of tropical plants that I had to rescue- from me! I had a bit too much to say about soils, watering, etc, so I made a blog post with the 2 videos + a bonus vid of a flowering cactus.

Close up of Murdannia loriformis Bright Star flower- it is a tiny very slightly pink white flower with 3 petals and a couple of sepals showing behind. It has several brown and white stamens and a single simple pistil and a yellow structure kind of like a floppy rubber glove-- no idea, unless that is the stigma and the white thing I called pistil is a stamen that lost its pollen? below that is a mass of fuzzy fine white hairs.

Semi close view of backlit leaves of Peperomia albovittata Piccolo Banda. From this direction, in this light, the almost heart-shaped leaves appear medium green with blood red venation. At this stage of growth, the leaves are coming nearly from the soil with very little stem.

Murdannia loriformis Bright Star a small plant with strap shaped leaves that taper to a point, a bit wider in middle. they are a medium slightly yellow-green with a wide band across the centre of silver-grey-green. Leaves come from a central rosette with a short stem and new rosettes come from the base. It has a delicate branched flowering stem with one tiny open white flower and a number of buds. Around the base of the plant are tiny green leaves with red reverse, the sprawling stems of Peperomia verticillata. Most of the plant is in shade, with a shaft of sunlight hitting the foremost leaf in the centre, and the open flower.

Now monsteras absolutely do NOT like being root bound but they grow very fast when they’re young, which may be how this happened. (This is a recent acquisition.) I actually had to CUT the pot off it! Added a moss pole for support and went a bit bigger on pot size so I’ve got a bit of time before I have to move up again. #monstera #HousePlants #repotting
