#reservoirEngineering

Simulating pressure during seal failure with CO2 injection in #GEM. #geomechanics #reservoirEngineering

In practice, we avoid busting seals by determining the fracture pressure of the reservoir and seal, then adjusting operating conditions to stay below 90% or so of that pressure as measured downhole. These numerical experiments are useful for examining "what if" leakage scenarios.

Hello! I'm Matt, a geologist who works on subsurface characterization for #CO2 storage projects. My work address is in #GrandForks, #NorthDakota, USA, but I live across the river.

I plan to toot research from my group and other things related to #CO2storage characterization, but I will CW things that are directly #climatechange related.

I have a lot of other interests, and will add on to this toot as they come up.

Deep dive into #RelativePermeability this week. Made some things in #rstats / #ggplot2 so I could understand the relationships more clearly. #ReservoirEngineering
