Our • team 9 • is now at the Laidu muižas pils - Radošais Visums artist residency!

They are an ensemble coming from both composition and performing arts backgrounds, they will explore the performative aspect of written composition for an ambisonic environment. The theme for this exploration is “in and out”, exploring the interplay between sonic trajectories of acoustic and electronic sounds through their localization both in the dome and in their natural position in space. They aim to establish different frameworks of possibilities, representing the relation between acoustic and ambisonic mediated spaces, alongside the visual movement of seen sound sources and performers.

Introducing: DDA Immersive Music Residency • team 7 •

They are a close-knit collective of electroacoustic composers and sound artists from Budapest, Hungary. During the residency, they aim to realize a truly collaborative and experimental piece through non-hierarchical co-creation. Their methodology—collective, communal composition grounded in research and co-experimentation—will take shape as an Ambisonic ensemble with theoretically infinite members, blending live guided improvisation and fixed media. Spatiality is treated as a fully integrated compositional dimension, as essential as timbre, timing, and dynamics.

This visual is again in the same "too smooth it's clearly artificial" 3D aesthetic. It focuses more on the "duck" character, its face seen here more in details, while it's limbs are stretched, distorted, extending far beyond the picture frame. The "duck" face is still wrapped in a green heart. Its face is grey-brown, with a pink beak (that could also just be extended/stretched lips). It has blue eyes with double-pupils, almost hidden behind pink hearts that float in front of its eyes.

The disco ball is also in the frame, as well as a couple of rolls of toilet paper (yes). And again the words "opencall" and "2026" in 3D, light purple, shiny balloons.

We team up with LABoral 🇪🇸 for LABOR-atorium, a digital art research residency to a duo made of a Belgium-based and a Spain-based artist. To support this co-creation, we will host the duo for one month each in our centres.

To help form these duos and bridge the Spanish and Belgian scenes, we organise a preliminary phase where artists from either country can manifest their interest in being part of a duo. Your profile will then be shared with candidates from the other country, so you can find a potential match for a joint application.

We are looking for artistic research projects that explore the links between labour and the digital, a relationship as old as computing itself.

Another variation of the same visual for the opencall. Again in this clearly-3D aesthetic. We find back the characters previously shown : the duck-head in a green heart on a shiny human body, the character with red spikes (and, more visible here, a long nose), the iMAL building with legs & arms. There's a character that was barely visible that is more clear in this one. Its head is a cartoonish house, and its body looks like a tight bodysuit with black & red scribbles that actually seem to form the words "iMAL" and "2026" (spread over the cloth, like two letters on one leg, two on the other).

It's focused on experimental approaches to/with digital fabrication tools, more than solely using the FabLab as a production tool.
