I just opened up chromium, and it is using my system theme, for both color AND the tabs bar???? My firefox has never done that????¿¿?? I'm using cinnamon theme, semabe, and does anyone know how to make my firefox do that, all the old tricks don't seem to work any more. @zquestz published an article on Gtk theming which I found fascinating. It is an overview of the kind of things you have to consider when trying to create your own theme for #Linux . He fusses over the little details that are very important when doing UI/UX design properly. He also made sure the themes worked properly on various Gtk desktop environments, including Cinnamon, MATE, and Xfce (three of the best DEs, in my humble opinion).

He also mentions the qt6gtk2 plugin for Qt which I did not know about. It translates Gtk themes to Qt themes so all of your applications, whether they use Gtk or Qt, have the correct theme. This is extremely useful since the impedance mismatch between Qt and Gtk is the biggest source of UI/UX inconsistencies in Linux apps.

If you want to bathe in 90s/00s desktop UI nostalgia and are on KDE Plasma, there's a very nice theme that mimics @haikuos with crisp looks and great icons.
That's of course if you want to live the lie that you're using HaikuOS while not really doing it.

GoToSocial frontend lookin' real good. This is what that means to me: high contrast, high density; usability; blends in with the rest of my insane color scheme, with the window manager, and presenting an amount of blue light sufficient to keep me awake, "lol"… this is "ricing" to me, if to no one else.

Just wanted to write that I don't know why but I am loving the Catppuccin color theme. Its the absolutely best color scheme I have ever used for a longer time. It has gotten me from "theming by wallpaper" to picking a nice wallpaper for the colorscheme

I need to change the color themes slightly to be matching with my unlocked UI. I did a rewrite for that as well. Instead of using waybar and eww I rewrote everything with quickshell. The last thing I did implement where the notifications.

There are still some panels on my backlog but they are not that important to me.

I finally found a solution to take a screenshot of hyprlock. I simple did screen record via obs and extracted a single image with Kdenlive.

There is properly a much better solution but it is working

Got bored this afternoon and reworked my hyprlock screen. It's not heavily influenced by https://raw.githubusercontent.com/mahaveergurjar/Hyprlock-Dots/main/screenshots/layout10.png that image.

Sure I do use my own color scheme and also added some additional stuff like my battery capacity but as it is that close I more or less recreated that optic.

Несколько лет назад я решил полностью обновить компьютер. Интереса ради (а ещё из-за урезанного бюджета) в качестве основы была выбрана пара зеонов на относительно неплохой материнке. Не буду расписывать все комплектующие, т.к. для истории они не так важны и, вероятно, для этого понадобится ещё одна статья. После сборки на сие чудо было решено накатить 11 винду, т.к. было интересно потыкать, по мощности железа хватало за глаза, а ограничения обходились парой записей в реестре. После возни с настройками и выпиливания тогда ещё не очень большого количества мусора система пару лет стабильно работала: тянула базовые задачи, разработку на Python, Java и Wiring, игры, какое-то время была хостом для нескольких ботов, иногда обновлялась. Система была прекрасным инструментом и всё было хорошо... до поры .
