I've been replaying some #RiskOfRain (the original, 2013 #videogame). I'm on #Linux, and the last version released for this platform is known to have some glaring bugs (lockups and crashes) that do not affect other platforms. The developers have released two new games since, RoR2 and a remaster of the classic (Risk Of Rain Returns). Neither of these is available for Linux. TBH, I'm moderately pissed that the original one (which used to be fully playable to completion) hasn't been fixed.
TIL that the Artifact of Glass nerfs Infusion ("Health scaling is also reduced to 10%") in "Risk Of Rain Returns" which explains why it wasn't working as it did in "Risk Of Rain" and now I'm having to learn a whole new way of picking items when playing with Glass (and Command) enabled (mainly going for Topaz Brooch, Guardian's Heart, Leeching Seed, Mu Construct, etc. to boost defence + healing.)
Thus far it is not working all that well.

Tried a new “Risk of Rain” meta the other day (stacking “Smart Shopper” as a priority with my usual “Bundle of Fireworks”, “Ceremonial Dagger”, “Infusion”, and “Leeching Seed” as secondary.) Was functionally immortal by the time I got bored at 200 minutes and generating more than enough to open any chest on a level from a single monster kill. Now to try and replicate this on “Risk of Rain Returns”…
Finally managed my first completion of "Risk of Rain Returns" after 7.5h of playtime. Had forgotten how bloody hard it is when you don't have any artefacts. But had a really lucky run getting Infusion, Bundle of Fireworks, Leeching Seed, and Ceremonial Dagger in the first two stages which boosted me enough through the tricky bits to basically make me invincible (with some care, obvs.) by Temple of the Elders. Didn't loop any stages on that run; was just trying to get a completion.
(And then on the next game after that I got Artifact of Command which makes life slightly easier but also slightly harder... No second completion yet though.)

Risk of Rain 2: returning to Petrichor V to exact vengeance on the planet that claimed countless survivors from Risk of Rain 1.
So many great games reviewed this year, and no better one to end with than a risky transition from 2D chunky pixel art from the past to 3D low poly over-the-shoulder shooting of the future.
