I just discovered a tool that might be quite useful for others while working with #rstats and #rmarkdown

Occasionally, I just add #bibtem|s in my #Rmd instead of #bibtex in an extra file. Here is a tool to make bibitems easily.

The screenshot demonstrates how to use the LaTeX bibitem in an RMarkdown document. The RKWard IDE/ GUI was used as editor. Using bibitems in a document has the advantage that you don't have to use an additional bibtext file. On the other hand, it has the disadvantage that you can't simply edit the file externally or work with bibliographic tools to update/edit the entries. The documents are fixed within the documents. On the left side, you can see the script editor of RKWard with an RMarkdown document. In the middle, you can see the rendered PDF (currently only available for the experimental branch of RKWard). On the right panel, you can see a block of code snippets for executing RMarkdown, LaTeX or R commands.

Quarto is a multi-language, next generation version of R Markdown from RStudio, with many new features and capabilities. Like R Markdown, Quarto uses Knitr to execute R code, and is therefore able to render most existing Rmd files without modification.

Trying to meet a journal's style requirements with #Rmd 😭
Apparently #APA 7 now says if there are two authors they should have "and" between them if in the main text, but "&" if they're in parentheses.
@zotero's (otherwise excellent) APA .csl files do "and" or "&" everywhere instead of having the differentiation the journal wants.
Anybody got a #CSL file that does this?

Hey y'all, I am seeing some claims on here that the law change happening right now delays 401k withdrawal dates to age 73. There seems to be some confusion or possible misinformation circulating on this.

Every reference I can find shows that RMD (being forced to take money out of your 401k) is being pushed to age 73.

No change to the age you can choose to take money out if you need it.

How is this a thing in 2022‽ Woe is me 😞

Programming languages, APIs, and documentation are usually in English; coding is pretty overtly anglo-centric. But there are more insidious biases too.

e.g. in #MarkDown in general and #Rmd in particular, a block of code starts/ends with ``` which is 3 taps on the same key on a US English keyboard. On a Latin American keyboard, it's a careful sequence of 9 keystrokes. Similarly some #Emacs keystrokes are a nightmare.

Presumably other conventions cause non-anglophone coding annoyances?
