I don't know why I thought putting in grass WOULDN'T be tedious drudgery.. I was very much mistaken. It should gain some depth when I add some taller beach grass and lighten the cliff's edge, but first I have to paint 12 feet of background turf.

I saw a recommendation from Robin Hobb about the first book of the Murderbot series by @marthawells yesterday and since I was between books I jumped right in.
Having read the first one I am excited to keep going. Funniest sci-fi I've read in years.
Robin Hobb’s Assasin’s Apprentice is one of the most satisfying fantasy reads I’ve come across. A growing up story complete with an intricate and detailed web of world building, political plots and character intentions.

I've read a few books more than once. But the books by #Robinhobb I've found the most interesting on the rereading. I've read the Farseer books and the follow-ups a few times. Each time, at a different point in my life, I experienced them differently and always got something else from them.
I'm currently rereading The Soldier Son series for the first time. The first time I read it, I felt very uncomfortable, mostly, I think, due to the social theme of people's worth corresponding with their appearance, particularly their weight. I'm not fat, but have always been heavier than I would like, and a family member has been struggling with these issues for most of their life.
That theme isn't bothering me at all on the reread. Because of that, I've been able to spend more time dealing with the main theme of the series, colonialism. Anyway, worth a read if you like reading fantasy that has social themes.

Je früher und situationsübergreifender Menschen lernen mussten sich anzupassen - um nicht aufzufallen, negatives zu vermeiden, nicht ausgeschlossen oder bestraft zu werden - desto automatischer und unbewusster läuft der Prozess ab. Und je herausfordender kann es sein, diese Gedanken wieder ans Licht zu holen.

Je me suis tentée à la lecture de romantasy en commençant par "fourth wing" de Rebecca Yarros, puis, près avoir été chavirée par "ACOTAR" de Sarah J. Maas, j'ai entamé "le sang et l'acier" de Helen Scheuerer. pensant NAÏVEMENT qu'il n'y aurait qu'un tome me faisant faire un souffle avant de continuer "l'assassin royal" de Robin Hobbs
mon fourvoiement m'a menée à Thezmarr, un des cinq royaume où je me suis retrouvée embarquée avec Althea, Kipp, Cal et bien sûr Wilder Hawthorne, je me bats, je m'entraîne, je découvre complots et tavernes joyeuses... ainsi que d'autres personnages bien entendu
et surtout, je me fonds totalement dans cette nouvelle saga. la #romantasy est mon genre du moment et j'adore ! je savoure !
et puis, mine de rien, toutes les plumes sont des autrices. et lire l'écriture des femmes me plaît. d'ailleurs pour l'instant sur les trois sagas, il n'y a eu AUCUN viol (c'est devenu tellement rare en vrai), il y a de la passion, de l'amour, des frissons, de la castagne, des parties d'intimités toujours consenties avec souvent la confirmation avant de se lancer... le sujet de la contraception est abordé (ce que je lis bien trop rarement dans les livres où des personnes heteros font du sexe), ici même les potions contraceptives sont prises par les hommes ou les femmes suivant ce qu'iels décident ensemble. et je peux vous dire que ça me fait un bien fou.. et je ne m'attendais tellement pas à retrouver des petites pointes de féminisme dans "ce genre de genre". quelle bonne surprise et quels bons exemples pour nous lecteurices !
bon et puis je suis une #hopelessromantic, j'adore les histoires passionnées et dévorantes. et les avoir en plus dans des univers de #fantasy... c'est parfait !
