The ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X are also very clearly still ASUS ROG products with a bit of Xbox branding. It doesn’t even look like an Xbox made device or controller. Actually looks more like a PlayStation DualSense controller.

It screams that Microsoft and Xbox didn’t want to put too much R&D into a handheld of their own before they’ve further assessed the market for it themselves.

If this goes well for Xbox, I’d expect to see another device in the future which looks a lot more like an Xbox device and controller.

Okay having watched some more videos about the new ROG Xbox Ally devices, I now realise it’s not a new overlay. It’s literally a cutdown version of Windows for a better gaming experience and that is much more exciting!

The reason that’s exciting is because they said this experience would be “Great for handhelds *like* the Xbox Ally and Ally X”. Suggests they’ll allow this cutdown version of Windows on other devices, and maybe even PCs in the future!

This is a marketing bullshit bingo video about the upcoming ROG Ally X. The handheld XBox. And right from the beginning, they are lying about what this thing is.

First of all, it is not a brand-new console. It's the ROG Ally with an X attached and "optimised" a little, to slap an Xbox label on it. It doesn't have the power of an Xbox Series S or X at all! It's a compromise at best. A good one? We will see ...
