Part of what made Royal Trux so interesting is their periodic insistence that (utter devotion to rock&roll as a spiritual pursuit aside, or perhaps implicit) the whole of their existence was intended to be nothing but a cash grab...
... All the while making music that some would argue was unsellable...
& they actually pulled it off, proving in a way that the system can be gamed? or something? I guess?
For a minute there they had it all: solvency without intrusive celebrity, & the freedom to keep making their art on their own terms.

11) 'PB+J' from TRANSMANIACON lp, when Black Bananas was still called RTX. EPIC auto-tune abuse of an otherwise sweet melody. Birds in the sky coming down again. Oddly dropped mechanistic beats.
12) 'Black Bananas' from the RaTX lp. post-Joan-Jett full-power rock&roll. "I'M YR GARBAGE COLLECTOR!!!"
13) 'BLUE IS THE FREQUENCY' the classic that closes out Royal Trux' Veterans Of Disorder w/ one of the best guitar solos everrrrr. The 1st 1/2 is a winding & evocative composition that *almost* lilts & scampers. Structured a bit like "The Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice"

Wrote a 10,000 word piece on the history & philosophy of Royal Trux, divided into three sections by concept, then decided not to publish.
Nonetheless, the tragedy of Royal Trux is that they lack proper official documentation. Important & fascinating band. Would watch a "GET BACK" style doc on any/all of their LPs.
