Tak mi umřel #HomeAssistant na #RPi4 se SD kartou tak, že se dostal do bootloopu.
No nic, asi si dám od HA chvilku pauzu, dokud to nepostavím na něčem pořádném. RPi se SD kartou je opravdu spíš jen hračka na testování.

Is there a way to dual-boot a Raspberry Pi 4, not with a set of partitions, but with multiple SD cards? I would like to have a couple of SD cards in my Canakit Raspberry Pi, with the ability to boot from a different SD card on boot. My idea is to have 1 or more productive setups (Raspberry Pi OS) and 1 gaming setup (RetroPie) without having to unplug the SD cards each time. #raspberrypi #rpi #rpi4 #dualboot #hardware

I was installing #OMV on an #RPI4 in a DeskPi Pro case with a 2TB SSD on the internal SATA, and connected by wire.

It was slow AF doing the initial upgrade. And got slower as I tried to configure it. Then it just went unresponsive.

Too late in the day to figure out what went wrong, so taking it apart for tomorrow's travel. Very frustrating.

Gonna see how my RPI4 performs with MinIO installed on it. Fedora Server 41 installed, 1TB SSD connected via USB3 and used for MinIO data. Access via SSL on ports 9000 and 9001 (will do reverse proxy with Nginx later). TuneD throughput-performance profile enabled. Now doing a Restic backup of about 210GB via S3/minio. #fedora #rpi4 #minio #restic

my collection of #raspberrypi all servers doing their thing. #rpi5 x2 #rpi4 and a #jetson nano for good measure. I have my #nextcloud running on one of the 5 and in comparison to x86_64 runs finally like a dream. #arm rules

Ich hab mich mal etwas mit dem Stromverbrauch von meiner Instanz und #Smarthome auseinandergesetzt der #RPI4 mit 3xSSD über USB liegt bei mir momentan bei 15W vom Smarthome Gedöns kommen noch ~5W dazu, könnte man sicher noch etwas optimieren aber das hat auch immer nachteile leider.

Das sind im Jahr folgende Kosten:

je Tag 0,480 kWh 0,16 €
je Woche 3,360 kWh 1,14 €
je Monat 14,600 kWh 4,96 €
je Jahr 175,200 kWh 59,57 €

Ist eigentlich überschaubar das sind ~5€/Monat bei 0,34€/kWh.

@mms #FreeBSD on #rpi4 works well. Though I would recommend not using the SDCD and instead get a SSD with a USB/SATA connector. Disk will be much faster that way, and less concerns about logs.

#cyberjacket project update:

I picked up a new LED matrix panel because using Bluetooth with the old one was too slow. This time a Pro Micro atmega32u4 board is driving the display, programmed using PlatformIO.

It's connected to a Raspberry Pi 4 which is pushing images across USB serial. And the Pi is running Clojure to do the work.

After all that time working with BLE I expected progress here would be slow. Instead it has accelerated! I'm hoping that some 3d printer work is all I need before this can be installed into the jacket as a test.

Ordered a #HifiBerry #Amp4 to build live speakers. The #rpi4 and speakers are parts I have, but I also need a 20v/4A power supply.

I literally could not find the part I was looking for in stock in #Canada (I avoid giving Bezos $.) But I did just think of a place I forgot to check… I guess paying for shipping and customs duties will be my reminder to think more quickly, next time.

Set "zpool set failmode=panic zrpi4" on my #RPI4 #FreeBSD root pool. Default was "wait" and sets the pool readonly which makes the machine unusable for my use-case. A panic will trigger a reboot which at least keeps it accessible.
NB: sometimes my USB-disk disconnects.

A la faveur du retrouvage du #RPi4 qui était dans un carton, j'ai installé #LibreELEC, et pour l'instant, je suis mi-figue, mi-raisin. J'aime bien l'interface, mais :
- je trouve super compliqué d'installer les extensions dans la plupart des cas
- les dites extensions ne fonctionnent pas toujours, par exemple, Catch Up TV, qui précise que pour la plupart des chaines, faut un compte sur la dite chaine, mais impossible de trouver comment m'y connecter
- le menu est personnalisable, soit, mais j'ai perdu une entrée dans le menu, impossible de la remettre

Sinon, Netflix et Disney+, installés sans souci, mais j'ai pas les identifiants.

My #RPi4 regularly overheats and shuts down (due to plexmediaserver apparently). Is there something I should be running to throttle back the CPU or the responsible software?

I'm running the stock #Debian image, not RaspberryPi OS.

No, I'm not interested in hardware fixes at this time; I don't mind my software running slower if it avoids shutdowns.

So I was doing a #party at a company event this year. I wanted to run realtime music-reactive visuals from a projector. I thought my laptop won't manage stable framerate while running a load of other stuff, so I decided to use my #Rpi4. First tried #OssiaScore but had very poor performance (drawing a single shape at 720p gave me like 20 FPS at best).
I tried #Godot 3 (4 would crash) - FPS were ok, tho I had to drop the Pi as I failed to set up a direct ETH link to my laptop to transmit audio...

Das #smb Problem kann ich dann in Ruhe angehen, wenn ich mich um meinen ausgefallenen #rpi4 4GB gekümmert habe. Erstmal schauen, wie ich da jetzt #NixOS auf die NVMe drauf bekomme.

Trotz fehlender Energie konnte ich vor zwei Tagen aber noch mehr „Spielzeug“ kaufen. Ein #aktenvernichter soll heute meinen Zoo vergrößern. Der perfekte Kumpel für meinen #dokumentenscanner #es580w .

Werde wohl scannen und schreddern dieses Wochenende. 😄

Hing ein paar Tage in den Seilen und freue mich jetzt umso mehr über einen produktiven Tag.

Mein #epson #es580w #dokumentenscanner verrichtet nun zuverlässig seinen Dienst. Das Scannen auf eine SMB Freigabe im Netzwerk funktioniert bei mir gerade sehr unzuverlässig. Ich finde den Fehler im Moment nicht. Daher habe ich den #vsftpd Server auf einem meiner #rpi4 installiert und es damit versucht. Nach einigen Versuchen läuft das jetzt sehr stabil bei mir.

Hab den halben Tag gescannt. 👍
