The #rsgb must be trying a novel approach to attracting youth to #hamradio: printing conspiracy theory-ladden letters to the editor of #radcom 🙄 In this month's issue: global warming is just a hoax, and WiFi routers are, for some inexplicable reason, bad.

Text stating "driven by a highly questionable ideology concerning the ongoing issue of the 'environment' and the nonsense of 'man-made climate change' and 'net-zero'..."

Had another portable adventure tonight, when participating in the #RSGB #70cm #FMAC contest. In the picture you can see my homebrew 2m/70cm flowerpot antenna. If it looks like there's a length of pipe insulation, halfway up the antenna, with kitchen foil wrapped around it and protected by black PVC tape, then you are correct.

According to the logging software, my furthest contact was 154km, which is a record for me on 70cm.

Had fun participating in tonight's #RSGB #2m #FMAC contest. It was extra exciting being limited to using my hand-held's rubber duck antenna as I'd left my flowerpot antenna in the shack.

My home QTH is not ideal for #70cm, so for tonight's #RSGB #FMAC contests I went half-way up a hill. Beautiful views and more contacts is a good result.

Argh, the RSGB are creating an App to provide electronic versions of RadCom, RadCom Plus, RadCom Basics and the back catalogue of RadCom.

We have a pair of wonderful technologies called The World Wide Web, and the PDF standard, perhaps you have heard of them? They are necessary and sufficient, and can be quite future-proof, highly accessible, searchable, archivable - and do not discriminate against those who do not want, or do not have the latest tech that supports Apps.

What's been on the reading list, data burst continuation. RadCom magazine, for radical communists everywhere, no wait, what, it actually stands for Radio Communications. Who knew. It's the monthly magazine of the RSGB (Radio Society of Great Britain) which as a member I receive monthly. #Radio #RSGB

A paper magazine with RadCom written at the top and a number of photographs in montage on the cover of people (it appears to be mainly men, they seem to form the bulk of the demographic) at various radio related events and shows.

Solar Terrestrial Indices today don't look good with high A and K indices and a reduced Solar Flux with radio blackouts forecasted. Let's hope things improve significantly soon for this weekend's upcoming #RSGB #IOTA contest. #DX #AmateurRadio #HamRadio

Been a busy couple weeks doing some testing with LoRa and APRS on the 439.9125mhz channel in the 70cm band

With the successful tests now complete running only 100mw output on both the igate and tracker being fed into 5.5dbi antennas I’ve applied and been issued with a NoV from the ETCC for the station
