The Freedom to Run Again
Reading Time: 2 minutesFor several days I either had bad allergies or I had a cold. Both are possible because we went from cold and rainy, and cold and snowy to spring like so three or four trees at once dumped their loads of pollen into the sky at once.
Since so many people are coughing and spluttering at the moment, it's likely that some generous individuals onpassed the virus to me. The result is that for several days I didn't run or cycle. I even had one or two short walks, rather than long ones. My short walks are still long for many.
At one point, with the lovely cold I had, I was thinking, it's no surprise I feel tired, it's as if I had been scuba diving or up to the mountains with the pressure changes I'm going through each time I blow my nose.
in reality I'm happy because two nights ago I felt well enough to eat burger à gogo at the Funky Monkey R. If I had a cold I'd have been a ghost or a no show. Yesterday, because I felt well enough I decided to go for an eight kilometre 2-1-1 run and because of where I ended I did a seven kilometre walk to get home.
This morning I went for a 7.5km run that was meant to be easy, heading down towards the lake before turning back towards Nyon and finishing near Place Perdtemps. I considered stopping at TDC before deciding just to walk home.
I like feeling well enough to exercise again. I like that I can join group runs, and group rides again. I felt isolated being able to do neither.
And Finally, i wouldn't usually run two days in a row but I wanted to keep up with the Runna program. I still have to decide on whether to cycle tomorrow. The issue tomorrow is that the group ride, and ingress meetup are mutually exclusive. The bike ride "costs" nothing. Going to Geneva does.
