Okay, please help me out. In the early 2000s (I think) I was quite active with #demoscene #mod #s3m #xm and #tracking

Then came the dark ages where I lost all my media library, samples, own mods and my library of music. Then came the depression, the time where I forgot even the basics. So please be kind and gentle, as if I was new at this.

Could anybody get me on track again? Are there sample libraries? Which program do I use? Which (fast) tutorials are there?

Ah, the good old days, with FILE_ID.DIZ files full of ASCII art and mod files with trippy music. Now I want to set up my old #BBS as a #TelnetBBS. Oh, and get one of those nifty #RetroWifiModem PCB's that slide into a Hayes modem enclosure. And then I can BBS from my C64 like it's 1989!

I recently found https://github.com/martincameron/micromod on GitHub.

And guess what? #DOjS is now able to play MOD, S3M and XM files 😊

I made two plugins, Micromod does play #MOD files only, but has only 8KiB, IBXM supports #MOD, #XM and #S3M and eats 30KiB of memory.

All this will be part of the v1.11 release of DOjS (release date yet unknown).

I have no idea when I actually produced “First Techno Attempt” as the date on the file says December 2nd 1997, which is wrong as by then I had produced a lot of songs that I would have considered to be “techno”.

I believe I mostly completed this late in 1995 and only added the choir intro in 1996, which explains signing the song as PoC, because while I created this song originally, I still went by the handle “PCi”.

To best fit with the chronology and development of my music abilities, I therefore date “First Techno Attempt” to November 28th 1995.

Regarding the song’s title, please don’t mind that the song isn’t in the “techno” genre by any stretch of the imagination. To me and most of my friends back in the mid 1990’s, “techno” was just a synonym for “electronic music”.

I remember being quite happy about this song back when I produced it, and I quite like it to this day as well.
