Headed to Europe next week so I should tap some #stout from across the pond

#samuelSmiths Imperial Stout is a bit outside my usual style. Malty and VERY yeasty, hints of coffee and a licorice finish. Not for everyday but I do keep coming back for more!

#samuelSmiths Russian Imperial is a different flavor profile - Malt and yeast, coffee bitter and a licorice finish with somewhat thin body.

An enjoyable change of pace, but not the top of my list.

Been about a year since I’ve had #samuelSmiths Imperial Stout. Either it’s improved or I have 😎

Yeasty malty lead, smooth cream chocolate body and hint of coffee and bitter as it warms. Not the yeasty beast I recalled.

Found a bottle of #samuelSmiths Winter Welcome Ale in the fridge. It’s light and sweet with a touch of hoppiness. I may shift to a more appropriate dark later!

#samuelsmiths Winter Welcome Ale (2023) bucks the season (it’s 80 here) but is nicely light and malty with a hint of sweetness. A good summer beer too!

Winter Welcome Ale is malty and full bodied. Had to try based on the “Fuggle” hops alone. Will have to research the reference, but it’s a tasty cold winter night’s treat. 24F with 15mph winds 🥶

My wife made Shepherds Pie for dinner, so the last bottle of #samuelSmiths Imperial Stout seemed the proper pairing.

Still far too yeasty for my taste, but matched well with beef, potatoes, carrots, dark gravy and sourdough bread.

Found some #pastys at the grocery store, so we have to pair them up with an appropriate #stoutSunday selection!

#samuelSmiths Organic Chocolate Stout. A cocoa nose and a yeasty malty background makes for a subtle chocolate with a sweet finish.

Enjoyable, less yeasty than their regular stout which I didn’t care for.

It’s #stoutFriday and I had to retry the #samuelSmiths #ImperialStout from England.

Paired it with pasta carbonara (ham, egg, milk, Parmesan cheese), trying to see if the heavy #yeast flavors would blend.

They did NOT. Sorry Sam, but this #stout is just too yeasty for my taste, I’ll be staying state side!

Using stone Yorkshire squares for fermenting, to me it has a very yeasty nose and a mix of strong yeast and malt notes with mild carbonation. The hops noted don’t stand out to me at all.

I think I’ll stay state-side for my #Stouts.
