Had planned to fit it in a real fish can,
but decided would be better, and simpler, to print the can too and make it bigger.
After some refinement in blender, I printed it on My A1 mini.
(had a few problems on the guitar supports)

I fit tested the parts

Then sanded, repared, replaced parts, broked parts, moaning, re-repaired, re-sanded...

it is made of 5 part :
-Fish can base
-can lid
-6 monsters
-crab clamp with keyboard
-crab leg

I finally wet sanded a bunch of #3DPrints that I had sitting around. Most of them were bases or toppers which I'm quite excited to get some paint on!

I also primed a bunch of printed models since the humidity wasn't 800% today! Now I've got 3298473785 things to paint! 🎨

So much my "making" is just sanding things.

Stop whining and go up a grit.

I am almost finished with wet sanding the last side of the last glider wing.

The orbital sander has done all it can do on the mostly flat top and bottom of the wing, but the leading edge is strongly curved.

I'll sand that narrow strip by hand...tomorrow when I'm not tired.

Looking down along the front of my clothes...spattered with the 'mud' from wet sanding the glider's wing. Everything in sight is spattered.

The final (2nd) glider wing is getting sanded to remove orange peel from the polyurethane topcoat.

After sanding is complete, I'll buff it with rubbing compound to give it a semi-mirror finish.

Tomorrow I hope to finish sanding this top side. (The bottom remains unsanded.)

Looking down on the glider wing from the root. The portion of the paint nearest the camera has been sanded to a matte finish. The rest of the wing still has the hand-drawn grid of black lines, which help me gauge progress in sanding. The rest of the frame is a cluttered garage shop.

Two black Sharpie lines will show my progress of gentle hand sanding of the glider wing's leading edge. This will be to remove the orange peel texture.

Two black Sharpie lines have been drawn along the wing's leading edge.

The wing is painted white, but without sanding it has an orange peel texture.

The background is out of focus, and is a cluttered garage workshop.

The underside of the glider's right wing is ready for sanding to remove orange peel from the final coat of paint.

(Now I know how long of a line a Sharpie can draw before it runs out of ink)

The three oval areas are inspection/access ports to the inner moving parts of the flight control system...flaperons, and spoilers.

The grid of black lines will help me monitor the progress of sanding.

The right wing is laying upside down on sawhorses in a cluttered garage. The wing has been painted white, but it has an orange peel finish that needs to be sanded smooth. A grid of black lines has been drawn on the wing. That will serve as a guide to show progress during sanding.

When sanding varnish

- Use a coarser grain, you won’t significantly dig into the wood.
- Don’t press on the tools/sandpaper, let the friction do the work.
- Change sandpaper often. More often. More. Change it now.

Last week, I had to sand the bow of the ship. As it was a bit high and unstable I used my climbing harness and tied myself to it for a more stable position. It was fun to combine too passions of mine.
It did hurt the legs a bit though.

I've just bought a large bucket of #SodiumBicarbonate to hopefully draw out the #smoke #odour from a #guitar I got from #eBay.

I don't know whether it's surface level and could also be address by #sanding. The body is #wooden #basswood and untreated. But I can't sand the neck so much, especially not the rosewood fretboard.

I was thinking of taking the guitar to pieces and putting them in a tub of baking soda, like a lucky dip, rather than just sprinkling.

Anyone have any success with this?

I usually sand my #epoxy #resin pieces to a gloss but I am so sick of #sanding that I tried finishing a set of magnet sliders with UV resin. I sanded the surface up to 600 grit and then cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol. After curing, the top coat instantly delaminated when I pulled the masking tape off the edges.
