“She took the midnight train… not to anywhere, but to practice.”

A dancer’s journey, told in the only way I know how — one illustration at a time.

My current WIP exploring new perspectives, poses, and little scenes.
Dancers make really great models.

Alt Text: A four-panel illustration titled “Day of a Dancer.”
Top left: A young woman with long brown hair and red lipstick looks toward the viewer in a soft, pastel-lit dressing room.
Top right: The same woman rides public transit, holding a rail as her hair blows behind her.
Bottom left: The woman leaps in a ballet studio, captured mid-air in front of a tall mirror with her reflection behind her.
Bottom right: She sits at a café table in a red chair, sipping a drink after practice as small tables recede into the background.
The style is clean vector art with warm tones and simple, graphic shapes.

Probably the best answer to a question I asked a player was "Chocolate."

The question was "What smell greets you as you open the door to the wizard's tower?"

Now instead of a necromancer, we're dealing with a rogue gastromancer with a pastry grudge and the trap on floor three is a cauldron of bewitching molten chocolate.

Always ask players to contribute to the world building and scene description.

Here's something I wrote about The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo (which I loved). It's about a scene written out of order to create a sort of ghost of itself, but I also talk about scene building more generally--how it's usually done, the effect that has, and what can happen when you choose something different. (To be clear, I like all ways!)
