We're in a calm harbour looking from one low, stone-lined, concrete jetty extending out from the shoreline to another just across an empty stretch of water. On the other side of that jetty, docked and with no sign of anyone aboard, there is a white passenger ferry, about a hundred metres long with an accommodation structure and bridge in the centre and even amounts of deck space fore and aft. Large blue lettering reading "Jadrolinija" is in the centre of the ship's hull with a blue line extending out of it contrasting with the white of the vessel catching a lot of sunshine. Above the name there are large, glass-free porthole windows showing an empty space within the ship that could normally contain vehicles. Above that there is a deck with square windows for passengers. Bench seating on open deck above that is then topped off with the bridge. At the prow to the left there's the word "Faros". The background shows a city with a ridge of mountains behind under an overcast sky. The buildings of the city are light-coloured stone with red tiled roofs, and a few church towers stick out.

This is a colour seascape photo of a ship entering harbour at sunrise with a lighthouse in the background. San Pedro, California (2018).

The relatively calm waters of the ocean rise upwards to the quarter up level in the photo. In the centre if the image is the bow of a large container ship thats viewed obliquely with the bow and right side in view. The length of the ship stretches to near the left edge of the photo. Our container ship is underway, slowly, from left to right. The vessel is casting a blurred, colourful reflection on the rippled surface of the water. The still low morning sun is illuminating the side of the ship. The ship is riding high in the water with about two metres of red antifouling in view. The hull is black while the superstructure near the stern is white. On the deck are hundreds, probably thousands of multi-coloured 40ft shipping containers with many more stowed below deck. Above and behind the ship's bridge is a short funnel with a wisp of black engine exhaust streaming behind. On the ships starboard side is a tug attached with a stout line to the ship's bow. To the right of the ship is a white, cylindrical lighthouse at the end of a breakwater with vertical black stripes and a black surround below the lantern. The distant background and sky is obscured with a milky morning haze.

The ship is the 333 metre long 'YM UNANIMITY' entering the Port of Los Angeles. The lighthouse is the Los Angeles Harbor Light sometimes called the Angels Gate Light.

For #SchiffsSamstag here's La Belle Des Océans, a former expedition cruise ship now mostly operating as a coastal cruiser in the Mediterranean and around the Canaries. We spotted her here while visiting Lanzarote in 2021. With only 130 passengers aboard she'd be far too small for us to consider.
