Oh no! Remember the months (years?) of disruption on Crystal Palace Park Road by Thameswater?
Well the roadworks are back with avengence. Yesterday temporary lights appeared between the junctions of Lawrie Park Road and Sydenham Avenue. Today we now have them under the railway bridges near the Telephone Exchange. Downhill queues were particulary bad this afternoon.
With the long term roadworks on Westwood Hill there is no escape from delays getting up or down the hill.
Bus routes 227, 176 & 197 are impacted

A Metropolitan Police officer has been found guilty of gross misconduct after a woman and child were killed by a car during a police pursuit in south-east London.
PC Edward Welch had been pursuing a stolen car in Penge, south-east London, in August 2016 when it mounted the pavement and hit Makayah McDermott,10, and Rozanne Cooper, 34.

Meanwhile 227, 176 & 197 are on diversion down Newlands Park. Chaos reigns for motorists trying to find their way out of the closure. Ignoring 'No Entry' signs, red traffic lights or, at the other end shooting through residential roads at far more than 20 mph. Absolutely lethal and thoughtless.

Six men have been jailed for life after they lured a 17-year-old boy to a park in Penge then stabbed him to death.
Michael Jonas, 17, was lured to Betts Park then stabbed to death on November 2, 2017.
After a six year wait for justice, Michael’s killers were jailed today (Tuesday, February 6, 2024).

Update on the 5 month roadwork chaos on Crystal Palace Park Road outside the telephone exchange.
Notice was given well before Christmas but this Range Rover LN54 OTW has remained parked in a no parking coned area for the duration. It hasn't moved or been moved.
The chaos and frequent gridlock this single SUV creates is unbelievable. This is a busy 176 & 197 bus route. The road is narrowed by roadworks opposite. Two buses can't get past each other. They usually hold back but other wide SUVs don't think it through. Buses are held up, traffic is blocked at the junction so uphill traffic doesn't clear the roadworks blocking the down hill traffic when its lights are green.

REMINDER: The Thames Water roadworks on Crystal Palace Park Road outside the Telephone Exchange are now in operation for the next FIVE MONTHS.
A combination of the works and inconsiderate parking is making it very difficult for buses to turn into Lawrie Park Road. Not helped by selfish divers not giving way and jumping lights. This makes the delays worse for everyone at peak times.
Just avoid if you can.

Southeastern trains are not calling at London Victoria
There are no Southeastern services running to or from London Victoria until Monday 1 January inclusive, whilst major engineering work takes place.
Trains are being diverted to run to and from London Cannon Street, London Blackfriars and London Charing Cross. You can use your ticket at no extra cost on alternative routes
