Love this – an oil painting of Seaburn's 'Cat and Dog Steps Beach' on Sunderland's coast in North East England on a summer's day.
This seaside location has long been a popular summer sun trap, with a fine stretch of sand at low tide.
The painting's brushworks are attributed one Diane Bell, who runs a local painting class at Boldon Community Association in South Tyneside, where those attending love to paint local landscapes.
Diane emailed me a while back enquiring about the art group using some of the photographs I have taken as inspiration for future compositions.
I gather that those attending the popular art classes set themselves a three-hour window to execute a composition, with Diane herself joining in the challenge.
Couldn't help but think that this view would have also been familiar with the world famous Salford-born artist LS Lowry, who regularly spent summer holidays staying at the Seaburn Hotel and being inspired by this local stretch of coast.
