So in today's post I write about the work my SL sorority does to raise funds for The National MS Society and also how this year has been difficult within the organization and for myself.

Managed to set up a pretty reasonable looking Maffi on #SecondLife using the Puchimono avatar. Adding her tummy symbol seems nontrivial because this body assumes you want symmetry on its texture, so until I figure that out, a dress is a good alternative. I wanted to use mittens and socks to make the paws rounded out, but the ones I could find made for Puchimono came with prominent cuffs that made them not work for this; I might experiment with non-Puchimono specific socks/mittens later. The tail plug is just made from primitives shapes, but looks fine.
Overall I think it's easily good enough, and it makes me happy to see something that's recognizably my sona in a virtual world and have her properly shiny.

@mcr314 @darkuncle What is the status of the #opengrid community, if there is one? Many years ago I had an open grid server running a couple of #vw parcels and had connections to some other servers. It all worked reasonably well, but there was no STUFF or people in the virtual worlds nor tools for creators. I was deep in #SecondLife #SL and, having read about virtual worlds and virtual reality #VR I was jazzed to see SOMETHING in virtual worlds really happen. I really liked building and scripting in Second Life and even sold my works there. There was (is) a real economy there. 22 years later I am still taking real $$ out of #SL occasionally although I made most of my creations free or ultra cheap. Real world life happened and I have been distracted from virtual worlds for many years. I used SecondLife about 10 years ago to create a controlled environment for study of human-robot interaction (rescue robotics) which one can’t do ethically in real life. I’ve started poking at Second Life again and it would be great to hear Open Grid is doing well.

Making stuff in #SecondLife can be fun but that’s like 60% or 75% of the work.. the product image, checking perms, testing and adjusting, the notecards and manuals, vendor setup and other commercial stuff is just so draining 😭 I’m so appreciative for all other creators who do so much work 💖🫶
