Don’t cut down the #seedheads in the #autumn. Leave them well into spring.
Seeds are food for #birds and small mammals. Hollow stems and crevices between stem and leaf are shelter for #insects.

I think summer's going to seed! As 'Storm Lilian' rattles across the UK bringing gale-force winds and heavy rain for some parts of the UK, it's feeling like the season has already given way to autumn. If you cut back the #garden in #autumn, you really miss out on the beautiful #winter #spectacle. Besides, it is much better for the #wildlife to leave the old growth standing until the beginning of #spring.
