Szeretem az első világháborút, mint témát.

Úgyhogy, most adok esélyt ennek az c. sorozatnak.

#Airisu: The Crow and the Witch

Nameless Shrine (Airisu POV): Post 15
#Wss366 Glance #MastoPrompt Lake

“Danger! Danger! Danger, Will Robinson!” I screeched, flying back to Sumika and hiding in her long hair.

“What is it?” she asked, but when I opened my beak to answer, the riverlets crawling over her kimono crackled and popped, drowning out my answer.

“It’s just an old shrine,” she explained. “We used to come here for tests of courage when I was little. No one even knows what kami was enshrined there.”

We were now on the overgrown path. Weeds grew in the track, and a river of bugs flowed through a gully. Dead things that consumed the light in their path, leaving darkness in their wake, and finally gathering in #lakes at low places.

I peeked out from behind Sumika’s head and saw a small stand of ancient ginkgo trees ahead. One #glance was all it took, and I ducked behind her again. There was a shadow inside the grove crowned with golden ginkgo leaves: sinister, deep indigo fire pulsing with red sparks.

I tried to warn Sumika, but the energy crawled up her like egg-hunting snakes and sparked along my wing feathers. All that emerged from my beak was a hoarse croak.

Over the static, a song whispered in the air of ancient power, lamenting the past. It crept into my ears like maggots whispering:

          Royal gold
          Hoarfrost’d now
          Silent grow
          Earth sheltering
          Pulse quickening

Oblivious, Mistress brushed at me. “Hey, get out of my hair.”

I scrambled to stay, wishing I were back at my trailer, where my only worry was my dismal life.

Kriminálky a příběhy o zločinech má české publikum ve velké oblibě, Česká televize proto nehodlá nic měnit a jednoho zločince nahradí jiným.

Tips

  • Remember, readers, will be reading a bit at a time over months, if not years. Every chapter should include reminders of what just happened. The more subtle the show, the better. Tell is obnoxious used this way. If you later release in novel format, you can go back and edit where this is janky.

  • Per above: You need to keep your readers interested over a long period of time. They will not forgive you for breaking your initial covenant with them. (See fanservice below.)

  • Have a clear picture of your characters and/or world. Otherwise, your work will wander all over the place. Remember, you don’t have the luxury of going back and editing it for consistency.

  • Per above: Once it's out there, it’s out there.

  • Readers are more forgiving of McGuffins. You need hooks for later and foreshadowing. Chekhov’s gun only applies if the gun is smoking.

  • The pace is different. There is less room for info-dumping, transitional chapters, etc. On the flip side, there is more tolerance for something that is interesting but may not advance the plot.

  • Readers like some fanservice, but don’t let it take over. I define fanservice as something your specific audience enjoys, be it sex, food, fights, or heroics. Spread it out, and if you notice that you have delivered on the goodies for a few EPs/chapters, throw something in. If you republish as a novel, you can edit it out if you don’t like it.

  • Anchor each character with some identifiable traits so readers don’t lose track of them.

There are a bunch of them, more than enough to give you something to think about.

  • Oh, yes. YMMV/ Rules are meant to be broken. I am not a kami of writing, just another hack doing my best.

What do you like/not like about releasing work this way? Any tips, sites, or software recommendations? Anything that surprised you about it? 1/2

What I like best.

  • It keeps me honest with writing. I have regular goals that are small enough to envision achieving.
  • It is the dominant format in the publication channels I use. Which allows me to write and publish without worrying about marketing, formatting to publication sites' specifications, and Corpo censorship (Amazon and credit card companies, I'm looking at you.)

Why the left’s serial insanities keep becoming the law of the land

misryoum.com/us/us/why-the-lef

Self-destructive fits of society-wide insanity follow a multi-step process, and the travel time from an outlandish idea to liberal status quo is a mere few years.

Comentarios lectores de Diary of a Broken Android + novedades

A veces veo cuentos viejos y digo: Dios mío.

Comentarios sobre Diary of a Broken Android

“Please read Adrian Fares’ work. It’s some of my favourite modern fiction, full stop.”

“This story has me in a powerful grip. If you love Ishiguro, you must try this one. Delicate writing, huge feels, unhurried pace that allows the reader space-time to settle in and reflect, resonate.”

“Adrian Fares’ ‘Diary of a Broken Android’ is a study in grief as repetition. Bruno’s compulsive pacing, his surreal little parables, and the therapist’s uneasy silence fold the reader into the same loop he’s trapped in, making the discomfort the point. It’s less about robots than about the way loss rewires us into machines of memory.”

“Total mind-bender. I just binged this series. Definitely recommend!”

“I really love this story. I love how he holds a mirror up to humans while also giving little tastes of Argentina.”

“I want to pay authors for their work — do you have an e-pub or PDF I could read in one go?”

“Mind-bending! How did you start writing such tales?”

“In case Adrian Fares’ serial novel slipped your radar, do add it to your list of things to read.”
