Continued my game of The Pleiades Turkey Shoot.
These pictures are from the action on Turn 4.
The Klingons rolled their first miss for reinforcements and received the Z-D fighters (disruptor armed). I used the Z-1 counters for them. They made their way toward the DDE Timoshenko, but before they could get in range some drones were launched against them. They decided to drop chaff since they were still some distance from their target. The Chaff rolls (Each of ths 6 Z-D fighters needs to roll 1-4 to lose any incoming drones): one 4 and five 5s!
These chaff packs suck! Must have been provided by the lowest bidder!
As a result, three Z-Ds were killed by Type 1 drones, and 3 were crippled by the dogfight drone submunitions from a multi-warhead drone before they recovered from chaff restrictions. They never get to fire their disruptors or drones. Reduced to a total of 3 ph-3s on slow moving units.
The moral, don't trust to chaff unless you have some more fighters to cover you while you recover.
I am up to turn 5 now. The Fed DDE Timoshenko was finally destroyed by drones from the last Klingon PF on the board, so the second DDE is moving out of formation to take up a point position to protect the rest of the carrier group. The Klingons don't have much effective on the board at this point. All but one of the 24 ZYC fighters (the Klingon's best) are destroyed. The Z-1s are out of drones and have phasers but are slow, some are crippled. The Z-Ds got wiped out before getting anything done. The Klingon F5 was nearly destroyed and limped off map. The first group of PFs are crippled or destroyed except for one combat PF and the Scout PF which has damage and only half power.
Turn 5 the Klingons rolled for reinforcements and got the Z-2s, which are their first gen superiority fighters, only speed 8 (16 boosted) with 2 drones and a ph-3 each. These are about the only Klingon armed drone launchers now on the board.
