For today's Convair retrospective I present "Sigmet", which continued something I'd begun with "Live At the End of the World" - creating music from scratch as a live performance. I wasn't satisfied with the results of "End of the World" but "Sigmet" nailed it. I played a live show, made it all up on the spot, and was beyond pleased with the results. DIIV Announces Concert Film And Live Album “Boiled Alive”
Photo by Jaxon WhittingtonDIIV will release the live concert experience film, Boiled Alive, on December 5th, captured across three shows at the Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles. Directed by Jaxon Whittington, the film premieres alongside a companion live album, produced by Chris Coady, featuring the entirety of their 2024 album Frog In Boiling Water. The band emphasized their commitment to the quality of their live shows, aiming to make their performance more accessible and further build out the world of their post-punk/shoegaze sound.
"Mikoyan" was originally recorded around the same time as the "Standard Mean Chord" EP for a split 7" single on a little label in Houston, TX. It went through about a million revisions before reaching this point, and ultimately the label canceled the single. At least I got some lovely cover art and a song out of the experience. Continuing this week's Convair retrospective is "Abandoned Airframes". Originally the first Convair album, recorded in 2006 and intended to be a six song EP. It sat on the shelf for 11 years until I compiled a full-length with five more tracks from after "Standard Mean Chord" and a few odds and ends as a bonus. This would be the last Convair album with short-form, multi-tracked songs until the release this coming Friday. #music #musodon #shoegaze #electronicmusic
