I’ve published a method for integrating Fedora packages seamlessly into Silverblue:

It’s simpler, in my opinion, than relying on distrobox or systemd-nspawn.

Install any Fedora package (dnf/bubblewrap)

Bazzite
Bazzite is a gaming-oriented Fedora Atomic spin that uses rpm-ostree to manage an immutable OS image and that provides stable NVIDIA and Steam support out of the box.(...)
Second time‘s a charm. Last time, Apple won me back, solely because of Battery Life, but given how uspol and big tech is going, I‘ll give #framework another try. Will be running my #fedora #silverblue spin ☺️ Now hurry up guys, ship it already ;)
Hmmm #BlueFin from @UniversalBlue distribution based on @fedora's immutable #Silverblue) has decided to have LTS distributions. An interesting approach, and in stark contrast to how Fedora typically works.
Built on @centos Stream 10 (So no x86-64-v2 to let it run on my T420/X220 sadly :'( ) and kernel 6.12.0 or the "HWE" (hardware enablement) version that gives you newer ones, plus first class support for #homebrew packages and the awesome #ZFS file system.

As I do usually with the beta release of the next #Fedora version, I upgraded my tests #fedora VMs from #fedora42 to #fedora43 beta.
The upgrade went fine for the Workstation edition.
The upgrade didn’t go well at all for the #silverblue edition. Encountered an issue with a change in the PAM configuration: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/pam-lastlog-change-crashing-gdm/164467
Did anyone else encountered this issue ?

I just tried out #Fedora #SilverBlue and it is amazing. Having an #ImmutableOS, having #Flatpak and #Toolbox is an absolute genius idea.
Although this is great, I prefer #Debian. Then I found #Distrobox which does essentially the same. It is written in #Bash and uses #Podman or other #container solutions.
This way I can run #Debian stable which will eventually have some out-dated but rock solid software but I may need some newer software. Or software that I don't want to install on my system
Some business closed. They gave me away a server machine. I installed Fedora Silverblue on it for work and to feel a unified GNOME desktop experience. I liked the latter. Except for Software Center, which has been unreliable, so I end up using Flathub + Flatpak CLI instead.
The package management experience though, not so much. You have to use three package managers: flatpak for GUI apps, dnf inside toolbox for CLI programs and rpm-ostree for system-wide things.
Aprovechando el #ViernesDeEscritorio me he dado un paseo por #Silverblue y #Gnome. Ha sido un paseo corto porque me sentía un poco como en casa ajena, donde no encuentras donde están guardadas las cosas.
rpm-ostree rebase fedora:fedora/42/x86_64/silverblue
rpm-ostree rollback
A little help?
I'm getting started with Podman in Fedora Silverblue. Podman's documentation said I didn't have to install anything because Silverblue comes with podman, but suggested Podman Desktop as a GUI. I installed the latter from the software center, but when I open it, it shows the following warning:
"⚠ Multiple Podman installations detected: You have multiple Podman installations. This may cause conflicts. Consider leaving one installation or configure custom binary path in the Podman extension settings to avoid issues."
I'm new to Fedora. Could it be that Podman Desktop installed an additional podman? Podman Desktop currently lists containers I previously created using toolbx, tho, before I knew Podman existed.
I'm currently wondering
1. How do I list installed podmans
2. How do I know which Podman to leave/remove?
I'll try to find the answers to these questions in the documentation, but if you happen to know, I'd appreciate your help :)
@BenjaminHCCarr
I would say that immutability of say Fedora #Silverblue makes for a bulletproof solution. In terms of ease of use, I cannot think of anything to fault Gnome either, but I haven’t used ChromeOS to compare them…
Wow, not bad, is that already the Windows 10 effect?
Es basiert auf #Fedora #Silverblue 😉
