Gemini just rolled out a one‑prompt presentation tool that can spin a slide deck in seconds. It auto‑generates bullet points, color schemes and typography, but the slides still feel flat and lack personality. Could this speed up production times, or will designers keep polishing by hand? Read more.

I should have moved to org-re-reveal sooner. It helped me eliminate a bunch of my own #redundant #elisp #functions for formatting the title page of a #slidedeck.

Coincidentally, I should have reread the #orgroam #manual sooner, so I could have eliminated a bunch of my own redundant elisp functions related to capture #templates earlier than today.

Sure, we’d all like to get better faster, but sometimes the impetus is just not there until an appropriate task arrives.

Moving and styling text & images in LibreOffice Impress is driving me batty!

The hitboxes are so obtuse and it's like you're constantly fighting the the general UI handling >_<

And applying e.g. shadow to text weirdly affects ALL text in the document?!

Does anyone have any interesting open-source alternatives to LibreOffice Impress for slide deck creation?

It needs to support custom layouts and stuff.

> Education: The transfer of knowledge from point A to point B through the most efficient, low-cost link possible.

Satire in 2017. I wonder if anyone has gotten VC money or done a Yes Men style prank with the same #SlideDeck but with slightly edited brand names: #EduSham , #GlowBallUniveristy might not be subtle enough.. but the #YesMen might get away with it, not like business people pay much attention.

Oh my goodness me. With github.com/yjwen/org-reveal I don’t have to write a #slidedeck in #powerpoint or #keynote or #impress or even #markdown. But I will not be so cruel as to inflict #orgmode on my co-workers. The #pandoc #Revealjs workflow with #markdown works just fine, it #commits well to #git, and it’s easy to #iterate quickly.

I cannot and will not guarantee safety from #emacs #OrgModeWorkflow for my #extracurriculars and #hobbies. 😈

Kind of proud of my slide here (details elided).

Particularly my use of

A screen shot of a slide deck titled "What I'm working on: February 2023". There are 7 bullet points (the contents are hidden) and a wiggly arrow from the top bullet point to the bottom labeled "well-defined" at the top and "brainstorming" at the bottom.
There is text at the bottom of the slide that reads "If you are interested in something, you can own it. I would love to work on something else."
