i'm moving my stuff off GitHub because i'm sick of Microsoft's shit. today's task is slurp.

the official project home page has been https://catgirl.codes/slurp for a bit, but now that's also the package URL as far as Go is concerned. this will be a breaking change for anyone who depended on slurp internals, which i hope is nobody. there's some sort of package renaming directive you can use in go.mod if you did.

the public Git repo and issue tracker are now on Codeberg: https://codeberg.org/vyr/slurp

if you can, please donate to Codeberg. i just did (again). they're a great option for open source devs like me who aren't SREs and don't want the overhead of self-hosting all that stuff, and running a service like that isn't free.

It is amazing how much more responsible GoToSocial is compared to Mastodon. And my Mastodon instance was running on a bare metal server with lots of CPU and RAM.

Also my slurp import of my old posts is now working, so I can eventually disable my old mastodon instance.

my Fediverse post migration tool slurp can now import from Bluesky!

i'm looking for beta testers who would like to give it a try, ideally on a throwaway Fedi server like a GTS testrig.

caveats:

• currently doesn't check Bluesky's advisory "Discourage apps from showing my account to logged-out users" profile flag: imported Bluesky posts will have public visibility on Fedi
• doesn't attempt to translate Bluesky thread gates to GTS interaction policies, because i need to catch up on both first
• video alt text is preserved but captions are not, because Bluesky's per-language VTT sidecar caption files would need to be converted and inlined for Fedi servers expecting one file per video
• doesn't handle quote posts, because GTS doesn't have quote posts

Right, the @chirp #GoToSocial account has been migrated here. Thanks to the #slurp software, most posts have also been migrated (except non-public ones and replies). Manual pinning was also required but that's ok.

You shall get future news about the #noGooMe #SearXNG instance running on #OpenBSD from here as of now. Spoiler alert: there will be some really soon ;)

I've made the migration of @maou to my #gts instance and used #slurp (a tool from @vyr - https://github.com/VyrCossont/slurp) to try to not loose all the nice toots that have been posted in past years.

522 of 2908 toots have been migrated :ablobcateyesflip:
For what I understood, only a subset of posts can be migrated: top-level public posts that doesn't include other accounts.
It makes sense, but I have the feeling to loose a part of @maou's history :maou_rsquare:

Also, it seems 906 of 1180 followers have been informed of the move; I'm not sure how the moving information works but I've the feeling there's always some followers lost in this kind of operation. Or may be, it just takes a long time to contact all servers and I have to wait few days...? :ablobcatcoffee:

Doing some tests with my testing #GoToSocial instance.

I've created an account for which follow request must be approved manually.
After ~20 minutes I finally found that the approval/rejection of request is not available from #gts user settings panel, but through the client (at least I can manage it in Tusky) :ablobcatwave:

It's mostly 9.00pm and my brain is not able to manage a simple thing like this, time to go to bed: I'll manage my #slurp migration tests another day...
