I got an old PC but without a PC Speaker, so I did the only sensible thing anyone would do... Making my own PC Speaker sound card, ScreechyCat.

ScreechyCat is a heavy contender for the title of worst sound card ever, but it is retro, it kinda works, and it is dirt cheap to make.

Your input requested for DAW Live
It has been a long time since I had a serious look at my audio software set, and the Slackware DAW Live ISO image which is meant to showcase all of that software.
Life interfered and priorities shifted.
Now I am looking at 2025 and the Christmas holiday week which precedes it, an

But figuring out how #lmms is gonna spew out just a little hihat is somehow requiring a systems engineering degree.

My RME UCX audio interface has died after 11 years of service. I’ll probably replace it with the UCX II, but I’m interested in alternatives. Arturia’s AudioFuse 16Rig looks suitable for my studio (mostly line level, some synths & CV, a couple of mics) but it uses the default Core Audio driver (on Mac). Is that good enough?
What other audio interfaces do people recommend?

🧵 The 2nd device is connected in both ways, and when both the PC and the other device connected to the jack inputs are on, I hear background noise when performing certain actions on the devices.
I used a ferrite ground loop isolator, but it was useless; not only did it fail to fix the distortion, it made the analog sound much worse.
What would you recommend for this? Do I really need to spend money on an external mixer/sound card? If so, I'd appreciate any suggestions.
