Purple Opuntia (purple prickly pear cactus). I have one in my back yard and one in the front yard. These guys don't produce edible fruit like a standard green one does. I do have one of those in my front yard. The more stress these are under (harsh temps, lack of water, etc), the more purple they get. I planted both of mine last year and it just snapped off a pad from another plant, stuck it in the ground and watered them maybe twice and they are both thriving.
