Another real test on #sun #sparc #openindiana and #amiga 😁 squirt https://github.com/alpine9000/squirt is a lightweight remote management tool for modern machines (yes sshd exists as well 😅). As usual some patches needed for our beloved UNIX system but only minor things for the libs and some functions behaving a bit different on OpenIndiana.

@thomholwerda Since I know you're a fan of weird CPU architectures and have owned Sun machines in the past... Did you ever get a chance to use an UltraSPARC T1 or T2? The barrel processor idea has fascinated me since college, and I'd still love to get my hands on one of those. Maybe if I save up for a few years, I can try getting a batch made with wafer.space, since the hardware design is open source...

After years I do have an up2date #unix on my Sun Ultra 45. There is also some incredible work being done on #rust for SPARC. Mate useable via remote X session.

This is obviously a longshot, but: I’m trying to boot OpenStep on a SPARCstation 20. I have the optical media. I can “boot cdrom” and get the installer going, but then I get:

Level 15 interrupt
…and I’m back at the “ok” prompt. Anyone know what a “level 15 interrupt” is?
[Edit: it seems to be a broad hardware failure error, and the current suspect is ram; see replies.]
