#Spectra #Peertube link for the same video which is views of frosty trees with golden sunset glow, on the acreage, and a couple of views of me trudging through the snow to look at those frosty sunset views!

From all the #instant #photography formats there is, I like #polaroid #spectra and #instax wide the most. I think these are so versatile. Instax Wide #film can be still bought. #fujifilm All the Spectra film I still have does not work anymore. It is the integrated battery that is the issue, I guess.

Transmission spectroscopy of sub-Neptunes was expected to reveal their compositions and hence origins, yet many show flat near- to mid-infrared #spectra.

Such spectra can be explained either by metal dominated #atmospheres or by high-altitude, grey #aerosols.

Observations of escaping hydrogen and helium from several of these #planets rule out metal dominated atmospheres, while homogeneous distributions of small aerosols cannot produce flat spectra and large particles require unphysically high production rates.

Alternatively, modestly optically thick clumps at high altitudes can produce flat spectra even with small particles and physically realistic production rates.

Clumping increases the effective photon mean-free path while reducing wavelength dependence, allowing the #aerosol distribution to behave as an effective grey absorber.

Clumpy aerosol distributions naturally resolve the tension between flat spectra and low-metallicity atmospheres and may be a common feature of sub-Neptune #exoplanets.

3-Now the (first 2) #Spectra #Peertube links for the same videos, slightly smaller files, as always. You can also just go to my YouTube or Spectra page to see all the videos. See the first 2 posts for thumbnails with alt text

1-A series of 4 short videos for the #CrossQuarterDay between Autumn Equinox + Winter Solstice. The date is +/- November 7, observances from 10/ 31 to 11/ 10: #Halloween #DayOfTheDead #Samhain, #MartinsDay etc. In #Latvian tradition it's #Mārtiņi or Mārtiņdiena- which shares a name- and modern date, Nov 10- with the Christian saint, but celebrates a much older #pagan god.

An old white guy- me- with a blackish hoody, hood up and dark jeans, standing beside a birch tree in a snowless but wintry landscape. The edges of the image are darkened and blurred, including my side, away from the tree. The following words appear on the image: Ragana: (in script) Goddess for Dark Days, Witches- and Rebirth! ( in simple semi-bold font) in white letters with soft grey background, matching the blurred edges of the image.

Just came across #FPbase, a community-driven database for #fluorescent #proteins and #spectral properties 🌈. Very useful for selecting reporters, comparing #excitation/ #emission #spectra, planning multi-color #imaging 🔬, and avoiding spectral overlap.

Here's the #Spectra #Peertube link to the same video. Because it is a longer video (10mins) and so a larger file, the YT video is 720p and the Spectra one 480 to reduce the size.

This woodpecker has been visiting the apple-crabs (between apples and crab-apples in size and flavour-these are sweet and delicious). It flies in with a great cackling noise and settles on the tree to peck at apples for a while before flying off to season its meal with its regular fare-insects.

same alt for all 3 images: A large woodpecker, roughly the size of a large crow and -especially seen perched, from behind, mostly as black: it has white bands on face and neck and a little on the wings- at rest seen only as a fine line, plus a bright red crest on its head, and since this is a male, a red patch on its cheek. It is perched on a dangline branch with green leaves and small golden-orangey apples. We see it from the side, actually pecking into the apples in one view, looking up toward the left in another, and the back of the head and neck in another as it really digs in. Background is blurred overexposed foliage and the unclear wall of a building.same alt for all 3 images: A large woodpecker, roughly the size of a large crow and -especially seen perched, from behind, mostly as black: it has white bands on face and neck and a little on the wings- at rest seen only as a fine line, plus a bright red crest on its head, and since this is a male, a red patch on its cheek. Walking in the bush on the farm the other day, movement to one side caught my eye- I walked around to see what was there (thought I saw a #bird landing after initial movement): didn't see anything till I was almost on top of this handsome fellow showing off! #RuffedGrouse Bonasa umbellus -my 1st time seeing one with this rufous colour variation, in display at least, it wouldn't be so obvious otherwise.

Closer cropped view of the same scene:
A bird the size of a small chicken is standing on a weathered grey barkless fallen log. The log is surrounded with clumps of grass, a mix of dry gold and green and small stems of saplings and suckers of poplar etc, many bare some with scattered gold leaves. We also see the bases of a couple of standing trees and some dry spruce branches that hang down. Much of the background is partly or fully out of focus, and some of the branches or saplings slightly obscure our view of the bird, but overall we can see it quite clearly. The bird is a patterned speckly mix of pale grey/near white, light and dark brown and a coppery red. This is a male doing his territorial display, so he has his ruff of neck feathers fluffed out- these are a strong copper red- more commonly here this species has near/black where this bird has red. His tail is also fanned out, like the classic turkey tail display. The tail is mostly regularly patterned pale grey with dark markings, near the end/top there is a band of the reddish colour with white on either side. The bird has whitish feathered legs, and is rather strutting, head held high, displaying the magnificence of his plumage!A bird the size of a small chicken is standing on a weathered grey barkless fallen log.
