WWW 154 – Wöchentliche WordPress Weblinks
Und schon ist der erste Monat des Jahres 2026 vorbei. Das ging richtig schnell, obwohl oder gerade weil so viel in der Welt passiert ist. Am Samstag hatten wir in Saarbrücken schon die ersten drei Menschen in ihren Fastnachtssitzungsklamotten durch die Stadt laufen sehen. Am 16. Februar ist ja auch schon Rosenmontag, dann ist das mit dem Winter hoffentlich auch bald vorbei.

Elementor One: Nicht alle sind zufrieden
Letzte Woche hat Elementor ein neues Lizenzmodell vorgestellt und wie zu erwarten war: Nicht alle sind damit zufrieden. Darrel Wilson hat sich die Kritik genau angeschaut in einem ausführlichen Video geht er darauf ein und zeigt auch, warum diese Kritik durchaus begründet ist. Übrigens, laut dem Support von Elementor ist der Agency One Plan gar nicht für „unlimited websites“, wie er beworben wird, sondern nur für 1.000 Sites. Eine Grenze, die man als Agentur durchaus erreichen kann, gerade wenn man für jedes Projekt noch ein extra Entwicklungssystem hat:

Der neue Editor v4 von Elementor hat die Beta-Phase erreicht. Auf der Landinpage zum Editor steht zwar noch Alpha, aber im Backend ist er schon als Beta angegeben. Spätestens jetzt sollte man sich mit dem neuen Editor beschäftigen, auch wenn es wahrscheinlich noch nicht ratsam ist produktive Websites damit zu starten. Bis hier wirklich alles stabil läuft und auch die verschiedenen Erweiterungen für Elementor alle auf dem neuen Stand sind, dürfte noch ein bisschen Zeit vergehen. Unser Eindruck vom kommenden Editor ist auf jeden Fall grundsätzlich positiv, die Umgewöhnung ist sicherlich nicht einfach, aber alleine der sehr viel schlankere Code, der am Ende dabei raus kommt ist ein enormer Fortschritt.

Bring mich hin (*)Warum die PHP-Version wichtig ist
Viele nutzen WordPress und auch WooCommerce ohne sich genauer mit der Technik dahinter zu beschäftigen. Im Idealfall muss man das auch nicht, weil sie jemanden haben, der sich darum für sie kümmert. Wer sich selbst um das alles kümmert, sollte sich auch damit beschäftigen, welche PHP-Version auf dem Webserver läuft. Zwar läuft WordPress auch mit PHP 7.4 noch, aber eine ältere Version als 8.2 sollte man nicht mehr verwenden, nachdem die Version 8.1 mit Beginn dieses Jahres „End of life“ ist, also auch keine Security-Updates mehr erhält. Und auch wenn der Beitrag im WooCommerce Blog nur vom Shop spricht: Das Thema ist auch für WordPress-Websites ohne Shop relevant.

Wer nicht warten möchte, bis neue Features des Blockeditors im WordPress-Core landen, kann sich mit dem Gutenberg-Plugin die jeweils frischeste Version des Editors ins eigene WordPress holen. Vor allem die Möglichkeit, Blöcke abhängig von der Viewport-Größe ein- oder auszublenden wurde häufig angefragt. Ist zwar aktuell noch experimentell, aber das heißt ja auch nur, dass man damit experimentieren soll.

Alle zwei Wochen eine neue Beta, jetzt also die Public Beta 8 von Divi 5. Die Anzahl der Bug Fixes und Verbesserungen liegt in dieser Version bei 151 – und dazu kommen auch neue Features wie der Page Manager und ein neuer „in-app Preview Mode“. Nach unseren eigenen Tests können wir bestätigen, dass die Public Beta durchaus schon geeignet für produktiv genutzte Sites ist.

Morgen erscheint WordPress Version 6.9.1 und die bringt keine neuen Features, es handelt sich um ein reines Maintenance-Release mit Fehlerbehebungen.

From all the #instant #photography formats there is, I like #polaroid #spectra and #instax wide the most. I think these are so versatile. Instax Wide #film can be still bought. #fujifilm All the Spectra film I still have does not work anymore. It is the integrated battery that is the issue, I guess.

Transmission spectroscopy of sub-Neptunes was expected to reveal their compositions and hence origins, yet many show flat near- to mid-infrared #spectra.
Such spectra can be explained either by metal dominated #atmospheres or by high-altitude, grey #aerosols.
Observations of escaping hydrogen and helium from several of these #planets rule out metal dominated atmospheres, while homogeneous distributions of small aerosols cannot produce flat spectra and large particles require unphysically high production rates.
Alternatively, modestly optically thick clumps at high altitudes can produce flat spectra even with small particles and physically realistic production rates.
Clumping increases the effective photon mean-free path while reducing wavelength dependence, allowing the #aerosol distribution to behave as an effective grey absorber.
Clumpy aerosol distributions naturally resolve the tension between flat spectra and low-metallicity atmospheres and may be a common feature of sub-Neptune #exoplanets.
