Hey peeps, can anyone recommend a #wattmeter that will also register usage during #standby? (so below .5 watts) would ideally be 3 pin UK plug and fairly low cost.
I had occasion to be away from home for a few days and checked my usage and was a bit surprised, I have some older devices I could possibly replace or just bin as well as switch off TVs etc.
I'm considering making an extension lead and separating the live wire to measure the current with a multimeter.

You know what would be nice? If one would configure #StandBy on #iOS in Settings > StandBy instead of having to attach it to a mount. You know, kind of like #CarPlay…which could also be better…😑

➡️ Der #Standby Verbrauch des Hauses liegt bei ca. 6,5 kWh/Tag.

➡️ Das sind ca. 2226 kWh pro Jahr, was erschreckend viel ist.

➡️ Neben der ganzen #Smarthome Messtechnik, nuckelt die IT-Infrastruktur ganz gut was weg (WLAN Router, 24 Port POE Switch, 2x WLAN Hotspots)

➡️ 2015 hatte ich in der Mietwohnung mit 2 Personen einen Verbrauch von 850 kWh/a. Das sollte zu bedenken geben.

➡️ finanziell ist das Dank PV kein Drama, aber Energie ist und bleibt ein wertvolles Gut.

Last night we wanted to power on an emergency replacement consumer class #amplifier at a party (but we forgot to take the remote with us).

Turned out (after installing it near the dancefloor), some #Denon amplifiers (like avr 1100 rd) are not switching to ON, when pressing #power button. Instead they go to #Standby.

While party-people were waiting for music, staring at us, a younger and an older guy started research, how to power on denon receiver without remote.

I didn't find the answer last night, and it took me 20 minutes of websearch, to find this forum-talk today, where pushing the "tuner" and "video select" buttons are mentioned, to switch from standby to #ON: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/old-denon-1100-rd-wont-go-from-standby-to-on.2961500/

While this is really bad device-#design, it makes me furious, that i did not find the information easily with websearch or on the Denon company website. Perhaps my search terms were bad.

The other one used #chatgpt and got the correct answer in 2 Minutes.

I still will not use "AI" for academic work, but i am asking me, what are the most efficient ways to store and retrieve such technical information? I even did not find a real user manual for this receiver online.

What if cardboard boxes and envelopes came with #unique #qrcode linked to a #blockchain. This would then serve as a #shipping label instead. It could be reused as many times as the box could be #recycling .This would save a lot of shipping (and return) labels, label printers and ribbons+#wasteenergy for #standby.
