Seems like I could pick up a used laptop for less but I also like that I can get a pen and produce art with this. Over the next few years I would like to be replacing my devices with easy use-repairable alternatives: things such as the FairPhone (de-googleified) and StarLite V tablet will become my daily drivers!

The hope here is then to have the life-cycle of a device to be 10+ years replacing any part that breaks. I’m done with these locked down pieces of hardware that mess replacing every 5 years because I can’t replace the stupid charging port! :akko_angry:

I know I haven't been posting a lot lately, but I wanna say that my @starlabssystems StarLite MK V is becoming better by the month.

The battery time improved quite a bit with recent updates and I am still enjoying the great display and speed overall!

In fact I believe this is pretty much the best linux tablet you can currently get.

I get to order a new laptop for work. I have been allowed to go for less mainstream vendors, oriented toward linux compatibility.

I will most likely end up choosing frame.work because they are EU based, making the purchase and repairs simpler.

The question: which processor should I choose ?

I have a @starlabssystems Starlite MK V and I want Gnome to go into the "Tablet" mode whenever I fold the keyboard to the back (deactivate keyboard and open the on screen keyboard). It seems like there is no intended way how to do that therefore I wrote a small workaround.

Does anyone have a better idea?

@itsfoss If you can afford to, just buy a computer from a Linux-only vendor like #Purism, #Tuxedo, #Slimbook, #StarLabs, #System76, etc. You will get professional support, and contribute towards making desktop Linux really succeed.

If you can't afford it, ask your local retailers to sell computers with #Linux, otherwise you'll take your money elsewhere.

How time flies!

Less than 2 months ago, we were designing the StarLite MK V case in our Mastodon thread, and they're already in production.

Note: my initial design was not the final. There is no magnet on the logo, the hinge is roughly in the middle of the case and there is no hole.
