DISTRESS SIGNAL ACTIVATED
Hey fellow Trek nerds - I'm going to be in a Star Trek: Lower Decks TTRPG soon, and so far we've decided on a retro-fitted Constitution Class ship that exclusively does escort-type missions within the Sol System, however our game takes place in the 24th Century (238x).
The person who proposed this game has their heart set on the Strange New World style uniforms, which I do love too, with the alternative accepted ship uniform matching what is worn on the USS Cerritos, which I also love.
BUT my particular flavour of Neurodivergent is struggling to accept the Retro uniforms would be approved for use with the current 24th century uniform code being so different, and having such vastly different uniforms feels like it would mess with crew (visual/indicator) cohesion..?What if it's confusing to other Starfleet members on other ships?
I WANT these two options to make sense but in and out of universe I'm struggling to make sense of it (since, yknow, uniforms look similar or identical for a specific reason).
What say you, Treksters?
TLDR;
Would it be acceptable within Starfleet, if a little unusual, for the captain of a Constitution Class ship operating in the 24th century to assign these two (SNW & LD) uniform options for the crew?
------
Extra:
I proposed that perhaps the newest cadets might be assigned the retro uniforms, or vice versa for the first few months, or year, of service aboard, but at this point I've rather upset the friend who wants these uniform options to the point of giving up on the uniform options... Which is definitely not what I want. >.>;
I did also posit that it would be funny if ppl sometimes mistakenly assume they're a ship accidentally tossed forward in time.
