Japońska firma Stax, pionier w dziedzinie technologii elektrostatycznych, zaprezentowała nową generację swoich zaawansowanych słuchawek. Model SR-007S to wokółuszna, otwarta konstrukcja klasy premium, która jest efektem wieloletnich doświadczeń marki i rozwinięciem cenionych modeli SR-007 oraz SR-007A.
Sercem nowych słuchawek są przetworniki z przeprojektowaną membraną i zoptymalizowanymi elektrodami stałymi. Dzięki zastosowaniu technologii precyzyjnego wytrawiania, inżynierom udało się zmniejszyć średnicę otworów wentylacyjnych o 20%, co przełożyło się na lepszą kontrolę nad przepływem powietrza. W rezultacie, model SR-007S ma oferować niezwykle czyste i przestrzenne brzmienie w szerokim paśmie przenoszenia, od zaledwie 6 Hz do aż 41 000 Hz.
W konstrukcji słuchawek widać wyraźne inspiracje topowym modelem Stax SR-X9000. Pałąk został wykonany z jednego elementu ze stali nierdzewnej, co znacznie zwiększa jego sztywność i pomaga eliminować niepożądane rezonanse. Zastosowano tu również technologię ARS (Anti Resonance Structure), która ogranicza drgania, a specjalnie zaprojektowany element nagłowny oraz ruchomy zawias mają zapewniać naturalne i wygodne dopasowanie bez konieczności dodatkowej regulacji.
Dużą wagę przywiązano do komfortu i akustyki. Nauszniki wykonano z naturalnej owczej skóry, co nie tylko zapewnia wygodę podczas długich odsłuchów, ale także poprawia właściwości akustyczne, wspomagając absorpcję dźwięku. Obracające się muszle pozwalają na idealne dopasowanie do różnych kształtów głowy, a ulepszona geometria ich wnętrza ma przekładać się na bardziej otwartą i precyzyjną scenę dźwiękową.

Johnnie Taylor set the tone for his recording career at Stax with Wanted: One Soul Singer, a consistently gritty collection of blues and raw, hard-hitting Memphis soul. In addition to his appealing medium-sized hits "Just the One I've Been Lookin' For" and "I Had a Dream," Wanted boasts pleasant surprises ranging from the addictive "Toe-Hold" to gutsy versions of Merle Travis' "Sixteen Tons" and the standard "Blues in the Night." Adding lyrics to Herbie Hancock's "Watermelon Man," Taylor removes the song's jazz elements and turns it into pure Southern R&B. When Wanted was released, Taylor (who has occasionally been confused with bluesman Little Johnny Taylor) had yet to become the soul-radio fixture that "Who's Making Love" would make him, but these solid performances show that he was definitely on the right track.
Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul (often referred to simply as Otis Blue) is the third studio album by the American soul singer and songwriter Otis Redding. It was first released on September 15, 1965, as an LP record through the Stax Records subsidiary label Volt.
...Three of the LP's eleven songs were written by Redding, and three others were written by fellow soul singer Sam Cooke, who had died several months before the album was made. Except for one track, Otis Blue was recorded in the span of 24 hours from July 9 to 10, 1965, at the Stax recording studio in Memphis, Tennessee. As with Redding's previous records, he was backed by the Stax house band Booker T. & the M.G.'s, a horn section featuring members of the Mar-Keys and the Memphis Horns, and pianist Isaac Hayes, providing a rhythmic Southern soul accompaniment for the singer's exuberant and forceful performances. - Wikipedia

Gus Cannon, Walk Right In, 1963 on Stax
Jug Band leader Gus Cannon started recording in the late 20s as “Banjo Joe” and reappeared as part of the folk revival in the 50s on Folkways. This was his first and only Stax LP released in 1963.
“Walk Right In” the song became a hit for the Rooftop Singers – who were credited with songwriting without mention of Cannon. The success of the song (and the Rooftop Singers album titled after it) “provided the impetus” as Bob Altshuler’s liner notes (from 1963) put it “to record an album of music by Gus Cannon.” Great early country blues / jug band but recorded with 1963 Stax equipment.
My copy is the Vinyl Me, Please 2024 reissue on yellow vinyl (E142 in the Essentials track), which is a great Craft Recordings pressing and comes with an “Art Print” of a show poster for the Banjo & Elixir Medicine Show.
