#TheBestYearsOfOurLives von #SteveHarley and #CockneyRebel erschien 1975, erreichte Platz 4 der britischen Charts und blieb dort 20 Wochen. Die Single „Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)“ wurde ein Nummer-1-Hit, „Mr. Raffles“ schaffte es auf Platz 13. Nach Besetzungswechseln schrieb Harley viele Songs neu. Teile des Albums wurden in den Abbey Road Studios aufgenommen.

It was composed by #AndrewLloydWebber, with lyrics written by #CharlesHart and #RichardStilgoe, and additional lyrics by #MikeBatt. The song was originally recorded by #SarahBrightman and #SteveHarley, which became a UK hit single in 1986, prior to the musical. In its theatrical debut, it was sung by Brightman and #MichaelCrawford in their roles as #ChristineDaaé and #thePhantom.

Das Album #TheBestYearOfOurLives war 1975 das erfolgreichste von #steveharleyandcockneyrebel. Zwar brachte die Band auch getrennt voneinander ein paar Platten heraus, aber die von #steveharley und #AlanParsons produzierte Scheibe mit der Nummer-1-Single #MakeMeSmile sollte (vor allem in UK) ihre beste bleiben.
Zu spätem Ruhm kam das Lied dann 2018 als Werbesong für Viagra und dann 2021 für den 7er BMW.
Vor ziemlich genau einem Jahr starb Steve Harley mit 73.
