#stonecircles

The outlier of the Nine Stones in the #PeakDistrict. It stands between the main circle, on their shallow mound, and Robin Hood's Stride, an oddly shaped outcrop that may have inspired the building of the circle. (Scanned from a photo I took in 2002.) #StandingStoneSunday #stonecircles #Derbyshire

Oops… I’m only two days late for #StandingStoneSunday Apologies, we were putting up the Christmas tree and didn’t notice the time. Here’s a shot from my early November visit to sunny #Avebury in #Wiltshire. Human figure shows the height of that standing stone. A beautiful visit on a beautiful day. And after our walk around, Lorne, old school friend, and I had a lovely Sunday roast in the Red Lion pub in the village. Best book ahead if you fancy lunch there. #neolithic #stonecircles

The Hopi believe it's the 4th world/age. Is the moon backing away? The murals of Egypt suggest fixing it is in our hands, or the creator will restart things.

Trying out the new-to-me press with my Avebury Cove block. I’ve been really impressed with how quickly I’ve been able to get satisfying results from day one. Very exciting times ahead

The second-best preserved of the circles that form part of the Druid Stones complex above Penmaenmawr, #Gwynedd. It's amazing to think the east-west track that runs between them across the tops of the hills may date back to the Neolithic. #StandingStoneSunday #stonecircles #NorthWales

Tregeseal East Stone Circle on Botallack Common in West Penwith, Cornwall, taken from the west-north-west on 5 May 2003.

A large arc of the circle of standing stones of the eastern, and most complete, of the two stone circles on the edge of the moorland common by Tregeseal in St Just in Penwith parish in West Cornwall. The stones stand in a vague clearing of brighter green grass surrounded by the rougher moorland plants. Some of the ground in the vicinity has been burned; noticeable in those nearest the camera. The sky is pale blue with a smattering of low cloud and a lone puffy cloud to the top left.
