Two new things #today: Wanted to take a picture of the skyline because it wasn’t there(!) - couldn’t see the high rises on 7th from 8th, low fog. And my first ride on a subway car where all the banner ads were actually screens - they all changed to the same ad at one point.

The train was packed. As I shoved to get off, the #strap of my satchel caught on someone’s backpack. Tied together, we stumbled onto the platform.

I carefully unhooked my satchel from the buckle on the backpack. I got my first look as she turned around, and we simultaneously said, “Sorry!”

She smiled and I gulped. She was lovely. Was this my ‘How I Met Your Mother’ moment? A strap might symbolising tying things together...

“That would be a nice story to tell our children.” Mouth before brains, that’s me.

“Mine are over there. With my husband.” She gestured towards the carpark.

“Oh, sorry, I...”

We went our separate ways.

Out of the darkness they hauled her,
Gave her the strap in public until
Her back covered the ground in
Black blood, transparent sweat,
But no tears. They were busy building
The pyre for her impenitent strength,
But she broke out of the barred room
In the dead of the night before, teeth
Gnawing wood and iron, fists
Stronger than their shackles. She
Was back in her forest at dawn,
An example made of the evil of men.

I missed the E at Times Square platform south bound this morning but was able to catch the A express. We caught up with the E, so I changed at Canal. But the E ended up being held in the station, shouldda stayed on the express & walked the extra block at Chambers.
