Weed & Thoughts - Tom Segura on Andrew Huberman
Weed & Thoughts - Tom Segura on Andrew Huberman
today i'm going with my friend who I taught tennis last year (which means the last time I played was then).
Despite me being in good shape to play this game, I always find it challenging to return to the sport after a short break.
Prior to 2022, I always play year-round just to keep my skills current. I can outrun guys younger than me because I keep myself in good shape with fitness outside of tennis and drills on the tennis court.
Then, life got busier so since 2023, I skipped a year of tennis (prioritizing training in the gym with weights, outside with walks and jogs, and doing yoga or dance in the studio).
2024, I was thrown into an emotional year from family/friends unexpectedly passing away and i lost some motivation to consistently workout. I have maintained my fitness thru yoga and meditation, learning more about pranayama (breathing) and grounding exercises.
I played maybe 2-3x in 2024 so this year, I would love to play more tennis.

Hejinian's prose poems are mostly mundane memory peppered with stream-of-consciousness criticisms, wishing that somewhere a meaning will open. Usually not: "The obvious analogy is to music."

Lispector' s posthumous work explores religion, creation, imagination, humility, and so much more as an author explores his relationship with a character he creates.

#SoCS has Mice????? A Prompt, two memories and hopefully more than three readers 🤣 #streamofconsciousness
@urlyman I think you must be the only person on here whose #streamOfConsciousness I can consistently give little yellow stars.
HANK & Q
I've been thinking about the parallel lives of #HenryMancini and #QuincyJones in the last few days for no apparent reason other than Q's recent death. I love the music of both of them dearly, and I'm pretty sure I know more about their careers than you do (😁).
Parts of their journeys share some similarities, others are strikingly different. But throughout my life, Q has always struck me as a man of the present, and Hank very much as a man of the past. 1/

where i write *very* stream of consciousness about slice-of-life episodic stories.
"Haunted" is a song that was recorded by the American singer #Beyoncé for her fifth studio album, Beyoncé (2013). It was written and produced by Beyoncé and #Boots. Conceived by the latter following an infuriating meeting with a record label, the song was presented to Beyoncé who decided to record it following similar experiences in the #musicIndustry. The song was inspired by the works of English musician #AphexTwin and contains a #streamOfConsciousness #rap.

We spoke of the culture’s Cluster B Personality Disorder-grade manner of inherently conditioned compliance towards any and all authority marshaled to maintain order, normality, a status quo; the willfully ignorant repression of and towards those enforcing said suppression; and the perilously nostalgic longing for any rule sans rhyme or reason, allowing for alarmed antagonists to herald as heroic their play as victim in flaunting as threat their own cagey summoning of the powers that be, pluming as boldness by association their flying of the Blue Lives Matter flag, versus the truth in one's so flailing it signifying a subordinate’s toadying timidity.
The more I followed them, the lines Francis shared fell not too far of the feedback loop that was my mother’s seeking an all-powerful interventionist answer of latter-day gay conversion therapy for me, out of concern that my ‘being too sensitive’ and frequently crying at school was a red flag of latent homosexuality—only to appropriate said red flag to serve as cover for the abuse she willfully ignored me to be experiencing at the hands of the very friend from whom she’d sought counseling over my allegedly queer inclinations in the first place. My mother, factoring I might one day charge her along with the priest, discredited me from a young age for any complaint I made against teachers, bosses, or anyone else in authority. It would always be my fault. And so I sought for myself a tyranny beyond that of my mother and her priest, my bullies and their culture, which brought us now to my confessions and my penance for them here.

" Though Virginia Woolf is often credited as the first woman writer to use a “stream of consciousness” method in her work, Richardson employed the technique some twenty years before did Woolf."

The prompt is Questions
Tricky, “Christiansands” from Pre-Millennium Tension, 1996
Lyric:
“Is it getting better?
Wrote her a letter
Asking questions
Baby steps in sections”
I’ve referred to some albums as trips; here’s one that’s a drug…and this track this track this track, hypnotic narcotic, with its mumble-growled #StreamOfConsciousness vocals, repetitive melodic line that somehow feels strange at every turn, so dense but lightened with airy vocals by frequent Tricky muse #MartinaTopleyBird.
#Tricky came up in #Bristol as a member of the Wild Bunch collective that evolved into #MassiveAttack as the #TripHop scene emerged, but his cutting edge could not be contained; he went out on his own making solo projects marked by his knack for making #downtempo feel foreboding, even aggressive. Pre-Millennium Tension, his second solo album, is still my favorite.
