When his father remarries, Yuta Asamura winds up sharing a roof with his new stepsister, Saki Ayase, the hottest girl in his grade. Carrying the scars of their parents’ troubled divorces, they vow to maintain a respectful distance. But what starts as cautious camaraderie blossoms into something deeper from shared experiences. Is it admiration, familial love, or something more?

A very mature sibling dynamic:
Whoa, just on the first episode, I’m instantly drawn in to the drama between Yuta and Saki, holy heck, you’ll have a hard time cutting a steak with that knife, the tension between those two is that thick!, sure I can understand that the two are apprehensive around each other for now. As the two lines uttered by both characters in the very first scene, is literally mirroring each other. Which I find interesting.
Romances shows like this, are dime a dozen. What I found one aspect of episode 1 drawing me in, is just how mature Yuta and Saki are. I wasn’t expecting that, usually it’s a teenager with a gremlin sibling. Clash of personality traits right off the bat. Not with Yuta and Saki. They took to their situation with maturity.
Just a quick off tangent – I’m a little bit mystified with myself – see I actually had this pegged down a few months ago, during early Spring season, yet only got around to it now, where it’s actually coming to an end (as of this writing it will be on episode 10 in a few days’ time).

Saki and Yuta are literally mirrors of each other. I think that’s what makes their dynamic so interesting, they have a lot of dialogue between each other, despite agreeing that they will keep relative distance between themselves in school. When they are at home, I can’t help but just be drawn in to their conversation, it feels organic between the two. The way they talk to each other, doesn’t feel like they are strangers or step siblings at all – actual siblings or at best really close friends.
Yuta, the kind considerate step bro – who’s a bro
There are hints of the two sharing similar home lives. Like having to look after themselves, whilst their parent went out to work, thus creating this really lonely home life. Yuta being the more considerate one, whilst Saki is the more pragmatic one, like how ladies are seen in society. In a way Yuta acts as a foil to her.
Saki, who can be sassy when she wants to, good head on her shoulder
Would I continue watching?
Yeah, see how this sibling dynamic goes
