I left some late sunflowers standing in the garden so the birds could enjoy the seeds. Great tits and blue tits regularly visit them for a meal, though they fly off before I can grab my phone for a proper photo! 🐦 But the evidence is clear - these empty seed heads tell the story of many happy birds. Leaving seed-bearing plants standing through autumn and winter provides valuable food for our feathered garden visitors when natural food sources become scarce. It's one of the easiest ways to support local biodiversity!

Ik heb een aantal late zonnebloemen laten staan zodat de vogels van de zaadjes kunnen genieten. Pimpelmezen en koolmezen komen er regelmatig op af, hoewel ze wegvliegen voordat ik mijn gsm kan pakken voor een goede foto! 🐦 Maar het bewijs is duidelijk - deze leeggegeten zaadkoppen vertellen het verhaal van veel tevreden vogeltjes. Het laten staan van zaaddragende planten in de herfst en winter biedt waardevolle voeding voor onze gevleugelde tuinbezoekers wanneer natuurlijke voedselbronnen schaars worden. Het is een van de makkelijkste manieren om lokale biodiversiteit te ondersteunen!

Today's is a small canvas that I'd done collage on but wasn't that happy with so decided to reuse it as an under painting. Really enjoyed doing this one think it's my favourite for this theme I'm doing and lots of texture 🙂.
