NetBSD sysupgrade

#openBSD upgrade tool is praised, and with reason. From what Ijust read, #NetBSD #sysupgrade one is also a great tool :

let's try the crosspost

Hi #fediverse there's a new #openwrt release but minimum requirements are higher: 8 MB flash, 64 MB RAM

#Sysupgrade can be used to upgrade a device from 19.07 to 21.02 but not supported for upgrading from 18.06 to 21.02

Do you use
#opensource #firmware or stick with the manufacturer version on your router?

You can download the latest version of this
#foss project at:
https://downloads.openwrt.org/releases/21.02.0/

@pugmiester Here is a nifty workaround for excluding the X sets.

1. Run `sysupgrade -n` (don't auto reboot).
2. Go to the `home/_sysupgrade` directory and remove sets you don't want installed.
3. Reboot the computer and watch sysupgrade do its thing.

I wonder, does the #sysupgrade tool for #openwrt work for all the supported hardware or just, specifically routers? What I mean, is, since my openwrt router is a #Raspberry-pi and a managed switch, can i upgrade the same way as the cool kids do? Thanks. I couldn't find anything in the documents that answered my concerns and no one in the #xmpp or #irc forums are answering either. They must be busy.

After two days I’m still building #NetBSD on my #pinebookpro.
I think it would be better to cross-compile it from a x86 VM, but still it was a great experience.
I’m curious about #OpenBSD though. Does the installer need a serial console cable to display the text every time I run #sysupgrade?

Testing a snapshot upgrade with "sysupgrade -n" again. Let's see if my hunch proves correct. #openbsd #sysupgrade

Back on #MATE because I miss it on #OpenBSD. Running #sysupgrade again to see if it works now that I removed softdep from /etc/fstab.

So, after once again ending up with a snapshot installation of October 5th (or so I thought), I decided to go through some of the mirrors and finally settled on the one in the image below. This mirror finally allowed my laptop to upgrade to today's snapshot using #sysupgrade. I have a feeling that the BUILDINFO on some mirrors is wrong, but even the cdn.openbsd.org mirror is showing the latest snapshot being from 10/5. 🤷‍♂️

I can finally go to bed. #Goodnight and #tzaf. 💤

MATE Terminal showing two tabs, the active one showing the mirror in /etc/installurl via cat, followed by the motd showing snapshot #376 with today's date at 9:21:33 MDT, and rounded out with uname -a showing the uname -a output, "OpenBSD Puffy-M400.localdomain 6.6 GENERIC.MP#376 amd64".

sysupgrade added to OpenBSD 6.5

In a move bound to be greeted with great enthusiasm, the newly-released Patch 012 for OpenBSD 6.5 adds sysupgrade(8) to the system.
