Known for 60's hits on #Stax label, by early 1970s Moore had averse dealings with former duo mate David Prater, only briefly reuniting, but Moore was embraced by many show biz stars including Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed and Don Henley. After recovering from drug addiction in 1980s, Sam even had acting role as a Reverend on 1993 #PBS series #TalesOfTheCity shortly before recording a duet of "Rainy Night In Georgia" with country singer Conway Twitty.

#SamMoore fully supported #GOP and even collaborated with #LeeAtwater and #BobDole in 1990s, and appeared with Prez #DJT at #WhiteHouse in 2018 alongside Kid Rock, Mike Love and Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. Moore also admitted to fathering “14 or 15 children” but had relationships with only a few, claiming "some of them resent me or want me to pay for them."

I just finished reading Armistead Maupin's final book in The Tales of the City series, "Mona of the Manor", released this year.

The PBS presentation of "Tales" triggered my journey to being the huge queen I am today.

It's delightful, reuniting Mona, Michael, Anna Madrigal, and others

We meet a battered southern woman accepted by a LGBTQ+ family, a transphobic lesbian, and an English manor house.

Reading Tales of the City for the first time. It is undoubtedly very good and enjoyable. That said, it’s nothing like as “fun” as everyone’s made it out to be.

Finishing Mona of the Manor: Armistead Maupin made another clear statement against #TERFs in his newest book of the #TalesOfTheCity series and said about it in an interview: >>He’s particularly annoyed about progressives who aren’t on board with trans rights. “You don’t divorce that portion of the movement. Just finished Armistead Maupin’s final #TalesOfTheCity book, Mona of the Manor.

I’ve loved all his books and this was easy enough for me to get into, stay engaged and finish…which can’t be said for many of the books piled up by my bed!

Those who loved the quick, quirky pace of the earlier books may find this slightly more leisurely. It’s good to catch up with Mona though in a way that manages to be silly, warm hearted and serious at the same time. The 90’s were brilliant and terrifying.

Here is my 1/4 of the way through review of #MonaOfTheManor (the new book in the #TalesOfTheCity series) by Armistead Maupin. I will be carefully avoiding spoilers but will be sharing a few things of a more general nature

1. This book is classic Armistead, with lots of twists and turns.

2. The best I can tell, the book I think is set around 1993. This timing is especially important because this is a short time before the widespread availability of the #AIDS cocktail of drugs that began to turn the tide of the epidemic. The book depicts well the terror of these days, but also the fact that #Queer folks kept living their lives with as much dignity and joy as they could muster.

@jmb Didn't realize there was going to be another #TalesOfTheCity book! I'll definitely have to look for it now.

#MonaOfTheManor, the 10th volume of #ArmisteadMaupin's #TalesOfTheCity series is supposed to be released on March 5th (tomorrow).

I already have it preordered on Audible and supposedly it will be listenable on March 5, but my question is --- which time zone are they going with as the time to turn it on (and can I game the system by using a VPN to access the book sooner)? I've tried this once (so that I had an Australian IP address where it already is Mar 5), but no luck.

So... if any #TOTC fans figure out a way to get the book sooner, please speak up because I'm chomping at the bit to read this next installment of my favorite series of books. --- And I'm planning to buy the ebook too, so if anyone has luck getting access to the ebook today, please speak up!

And always, eternal gratitude must always be extended to Armistead for creating characters that I care about so much, and for humanizing #LGBTQ people in literature, before most were ready to do so.
