The #tangocommunity in my neck of the woods is one of the most welcoming and supportive communities I've experienced in all these years. I regularly dance in other parts of UK, Europe and in London, but in London I would say it is the worse I've encountered for coldness and unfriendliness.
I'm glad to hear you have found a warm and supportive hive of #tangodancers.
