From the commentary track, Dee and Chris weren't married yet, but they were pretty close during this movie, so Dee just went and got drunk when this scene was filmed.
From the commentary track, it almost had something like that in that final barn scene.
- Dee vociferously complained that this was supposed to be a "classy" movie with a "no added nude scenes" clause in her contract,
- the film crew were laughing at how ridiculous it looked, and
- I think a producer or agent raced on to the set, and looked at the topless women, yelled alot, and finally said, "This is stupid."
Director Joe Dante relented. 😆

Supposedly, Eddie was supposed to climb under the sheets while Karen turned away to swap position with dead Terry to scare to crap out of Karen, cuz Eddie likes drama! 🙄

The Director Joe Dante admits in the commentary track that he was not really good at blocking yet, so he tried to compensate with shorter cuts so the audience didn't notice. 🤷♂️
Yup, it's mentioned in the movie a couple of times that fire can kill them (I think Dick Miller in the book store says it), and it's the reason John Carradine wants to kill himself by jumping into the bonfire in the beach scene.
On the commentary track, they said they shot the transformation sequence last, after the reaction shots with Dee, and when trying to cut it together, they never had a chance to preview the picture to see how long to make the scene. They called some "kids" (assume this was young people 17+) doing a commercial down the hall to come take a look, and kid complained, "How come she don't run away?" but the director kept it.
Cripes, the commentary on how they shot this movie - it's insane how cheap they were! 😆
- That was a real porn shop.
- That was a real, but very small, TV station.
- They had two prop walls they moved around the station's rooms to make it seem more complex than it was.
The UHD has commentary with Christopher Stone on it, I think from the laserdisc, recorded about a year before he died. 😥

Did Burt just walk into a corn field when the plants parted for him? That's... almost as bad as Terry following to the weird whispers and going into the forest in #TheHowling!

Peter Horton just walking into other people's house like he's Terry in #TheHowling, and as in that movie, I'm sure even non-homicidal dwellers would have a problem this behavior!

I think something about the gunshots to the engine, which is why Chris and Karen had to run out of the car? I dunno. Explodium was in wide use in the early 80s. 🤷♂️😖
