I just rated number 900, so it feels like getting into the end stages now. One album per day, short breaks on the holidays, so I've been going for about 3 years. The generator uses all version of the book, so I've got about 200 albums to go still.

I remember my two-spirit cousin who was kicked out of their rural Newfoundland home when they were still a young teen. They were driven out for being queer. I was only a little kid when it happened and was horrified that a family could treat their kid like this. I always liked my cousin, though I cannot remember their name. They were nice to me and introduced me to new and exciting music. I remember them playing “Drugs in My Pockets’ by The Monks for me. I have no idea what ever became of them. I hope they are ok. They are forever missing for me, but at least I can listen to this song and remember them. #homophobia #TwoSpirit #SistersInSpirit #MMIWg2ST #TheMonks #1970s

I'd prefer to see #TheMonks at some German club where folks appreciated them, to see what that looked like. But, I'd settle for one where people were confused or offended. I'd be the lone doofus shamelessly jumping around, yelling, "People are going to be listening to this in 100 years," while the audience rolled their eyes.

Does anyone remember “The Monks”? (I think that was their name) They were a gay couple (I also think one did drag) that toured the country in a camper and published a zine. This would’ve been in the 90s or so. Can’t find anything online about them. #TheMonks #zine

The group behind today's #MusicalOffering was way ahead of their time. My mind was boggled when I heard this for the first time. I'd feel bad for not having heard of them before the mid 90s, but they didn't have a _US_ release until 1994. I hope that if you listen to this you will be as blown away as I was when I found out this was originally released in 1966! The Monks were punk a decade too early!
