Does anyone know how much it costs to get a FLIR C3 or C5 calibrated? I"ve got my hands on one and the C3 is giving numbers almost 10 degrees below "the actual temperature" (please don't laugh at my wording @Protons4B ). Altering the emissivity setting doesn't allow me to tweak things and I suspect it has to go back to FLIR. So I'm wondering about the order of magnitude for the cost of calibration.

#Température de surface du dock du boulot.

C'est pas le miens, donc je ne m'amuserai pas à le faire fonctionner coque démontée… Mais j'aurai été curieux de voir les températures les composants plutôt que celle de la coque chauffée par les composants.

Dommage, c'est trop petit pour servir de chauffage d'appoint en hiver au bureau 🤡

(Bon, en vrai on a vu bien pire comme apoareil électronique qui chauffe, hein…)

The #asphaltcollector for our project "Sozial100%Erneuerbar", a social housing project with 100 % renewables for heating and cooling (#geothermal, #wastewater, #solarthermal and the #asphaltcollector) is in operation! We started with #monitoring, #thermography and surface temperature measurements. @AlanBell I would hire one if you can. Most cheap, freely available ones won't have the spatial res. to allow you workout what's happening with sufficient detail. You also need to take care processing the results - and drawing the wrong conclusons. There are free tools such as #FLIR tools, that allow you to adjust range, span, emissivity of the images (rjpgs). Quick survey tip: cold night (>10°C bet inside and out), low humidity are your friends. #thermography #thermal #spacecraftengineer

One exciting project I was involved in this past year was led by Nathan Vidal, who was interested in the interplay between #physiology & #cognition.

We were going to study how #attachment relates to #BAT activation.

A seemingly cool method was via #infrared #thermography, as #BAT is usually detected via radioactive tracers.

Turns out that it is harder to study #BAT than we thought!

The method wasn't as reliable as previously presumed.
